!topic Roll Call
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:00:31
As usual, let's wait a moment for everybody to show up.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:00:31
I'll post the agenda in 2-3 minutes.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:00:31
I've added one topic I forgot earlier today.
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:01:46

Hi Emmanuel
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:02:26
Hi, Peter
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:02:55
Let's wait some minutes, and then let's start anyway.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:03:12
There is nothing critical to decide today.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:04:13
OK, let's start to now.

I guess, you have nothing to add, so let's immediately start?
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:05:54
No, I'm good
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:05:59
!topic 1. Follow-up actions & announcements
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:06:07
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/server-working-group/wg-minutes-2025/
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:06:07
Regarding the action, I'll include the list in our
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:06:07
meetings overview:
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:06:32
Not everything is already completely done, but on it's good way.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:06:48
I have eye surgery on next Monday. I'm getting a new lens and don't know at the moment how well I'll be able to work on the screen for the following 2-4 days. And if all goes well, the other eye is scheduled for 14 days later. So it may be that someone else will have to take over the chair. Or we cancel the next meeting. At the moment there is not that much to decide. We are more behind schedule with the work projects, NFS Ansible, improving the release test procedure, contribution documentation update, user documentation update, etc.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:08:33
Maybe, I post this on Friday in our server room, so more members can give feedback.
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:08:45
Yes, good idea
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:08:58
and good luck with that surgery
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:09:59
Yes, thanks. I am very optimistic about the clinic I have chosen and have been receiving treatment there for several years.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:10:31
But of course, mistakes can always happen—unfortunately.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:10:53
!topic 2. Status migration to forge.fedoraproject.org
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:11:01
No tracking issue yet
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:11:09
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:11:50
I suppose, we have completed the migration? And obviously anything works.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:13:02
But probably, we should move our wiki on the wiki site to the wiki in Forgejo, too? Then we would have anything in one place and we minimize the scattering.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:13:13
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:14:19
Also, we could also use the wiki button in forge to forward to our existing wiki, if we prefer to keep the old wiki
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:14:37
+1 to moving the old wiki to the new forge
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:14:50
OK, me too.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:15:36
So I will start to move it. It is not much, because most of the content is already in our docs or completely outdated.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:16:25
And it is somehow easier to move e.g. some of our ideas from the wiki to the project topic.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:17:02
!agreed We move the old wiki to the wiki inside forge.fedoraproject.org
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:17:30
!topic 3. Our program and working plan for the upcoming year
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:18:34
I added this one later. Because we should give it some thoughts.
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:19:52
More communication on what each of us is working on would be nice
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:20:57
I was about to add a section in the post-installation tasks about LLMNR when I realized Paul had beaten me to the punch
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:22:20
Yes. It's very short, unlike my previous texts.😀
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:23:03
Maybe should ad the info, that LLMNS is activated by default and mDNS is deactive.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:23:46
Regarding to our plans, it would be really good, if we could contribute something to the release notes.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:24:11
We don't “sell” ourselves very well there.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:24:36
I'll post this in our room, too.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:24:49
!topic 3. Walk through longterm open issues and PRs
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:25:42
I think, we can have a look on 2-3 Topics, I think. These are quite simple and clear.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:26:08
!info Revisiting default editor for Fedora Server Edition #55
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:26:20
https://forge.fedoraproject.org/server/tickets/issues/55
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:26:30
And in the new Anaconda UI we opted against ehe optional Software options.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:26:30
Proposal: Resolved as part of post-installaton tasks.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:27:11
That takes care of itself.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:28:31
!agreed We close issue #55 about default editor as resolved. It is part of post-installation tasks.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:28:31
I see no objection, so I guess
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:28:58
!info Cockpit File Sharing module #86
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:29:08
https://forge.fedoraproject.org/server/tickets/issues/86
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:29:18
Is it still part of Cockpit distribution?
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:29:28
It was maintained by Stephen, but he stepped back because of difficult chanches in upstream.
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:29:31
Not sure, to be honest
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:31:14
I this site official?
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:31:14
https://discourse.getcockpit.com/t/list-of-cockpit-addons/234
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:32:18
Hm, I think it is not.
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:32:44
I believe there's a 'cockpit' room here
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:33:15
I think this is official
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:33:16
https://cockpit-project.org/applications
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:33:59
and storage is there
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:35:10
And storage support NFS as client, not as server as far as I know.
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:35:31
ah
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:35:37
And there is still File sharing as a third party module
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:37:27
Could you evaluate the status of that File Sharing module? is it still supported and who does it? What says the maintainer about it?
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:38:49
And could you check, what the modules really does?
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:42:14
I don't really use NFS extensively. I'm probably not the right person for the job
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:42:40
OK, let's ask John, indeed.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:42:50
Next One
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:43:04
!info Software Raid on a UEFI system using GPT partitioning scheme #89
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:43:13
https://forge.fedoraproject.org/server/tickets/issues/86
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:44:22
We use it, it works, but it is not standard compliant. And question is, will it still be supported by the new Anaconda UI. And: it there another, standard compliant solution?
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:45:58
Problem is, we must have updated versions of the efi partition, Therefore currently the raid config. Another standard compliant solution would be really good.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:46:44
Can you contact the Anaconda team about this question? And probably the kernel or grub team, too?
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:49:07
I would rather somebody else do this
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:49:47
OK, let's that untouched for the moment.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:49:53
Last one for now:
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:50:05
!info A "story" for each release #101
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:50:22
===============
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:50:22
https://forge.fedoraproject.org/server/tickets/issues/101
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:50:32
I think that idea has gone. But there is still the issue, that we are not present in the Release notes.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:50:32
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:51:15
So we shoud save the ideas to the wiki as with the other item and simply close this.
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:51:44
Well, we are present but only through the changes of the Postgresql, FreeIPA, ... owners
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:52:09
Yes, an other package changes.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:53:30
But would be better we could announce something like we make NFS easier by Ansible, or we now have a home lab spin, oder we now support one or the other VM for provider xyz. :-)
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:54:26
May it works for Ansible NFS in 44. Hope dies last.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:55:07
OK, I think that's it for today.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:55:18
!topic 4. Open Floor
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:55:39
Anything here?
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:56:17
I have to start planning my trip to Bruxelles for FOSDEM
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:56:30
but that's mostly a solo thing
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
18:56:57
Ah, the FOSDEM devroom names have been published
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:57:57
Yes, and I'm booked at the Fedora recommended hotel. There is special price, about 12x€ per night. Which is quite affordable for Brüssel.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:58:24
And as I undefrstood Justin, there are still free rooms in the block he reserved.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:58:58
And we are still working on a meet-up on Thursday. And it looks good.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
18:59:42
And we work on a 1 or 2 hours Sever special on the Fedora booth. (The Docs special is already decided).
<@eseyman:fedora.im>
19:02:42
I'll keep you posted
<@pboy:fedora.im>
19:03:00
OK Thanks.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
19:03:15
So I think we are done and I'll close now.
<@pboy:fedora.im>
19:03:58
Meet you at our matrix room, and maybe next Wedndesday again, depending on the healing of my eye.
