<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:10:38
Not from me..
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:11:18
I doubt it can make F41 anyway
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:12:20
Okay
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:12:28
Let's move then to next ticket

07:17:33

<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:21:14

<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:21:44
Do we need to keep this ticket open?
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:22:20
I think so, still bit more to split out
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:22:55
Okay thanks
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:22:56
Let's move to next ticket
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:23:04
!info #190: define language support criteria or tiers? (petersen)
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:23:09
!link https://pagure.io/i18n/issue/190
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:24:54
Coarse tiers perhaps
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:24:54
Maybe we could start with some "MVP"?
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:25:45
Also question what is actual goal or motivation etc?
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:26:43
Conversely making it completely objective might be safer, otherwise it can become a "slippery slope"...
<@kanru:wara.tw>
07:27:41
What is the scope? The installer and the default applications?
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:28:16
I think the original WS context deciding which languages to "highlight" and support in WS/Gnome say
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:28:34
I think the original WS context was deciding which languages to "highlight" and support in WS/Gnome say
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:29:01
Yeah installer is one sure
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:29:43
Anaconda currently just based on translations I believe
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:31:21
Gnome too I suppose
<@tagoh:matrix.org>
07:33:28
The things we expect to discuss may be if we want to add a language that is not translated? otherwise it would be simply an element of languages translated on both anaconda and GNOME?
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:35:11
do add any comment in ticket if we get something to add there
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:35:18
should we move to next ticket?
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:35:56
Well I guess for WS, Anaconda basically decides the language, though the web UI may change that
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:36:27
Well I guess for WS, currently Anaconda basically decides the language, though the web UI may change that
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:37:25
But multiple levels here, like recently we wonder what to do about unstandardized/unsupported languages even
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:39:15
At the same time the status quo not so terrible so there's time to think
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:39:40
Sure we can continue later
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:40:37
(I do feel Korean should probably be added to the top gnome language list...)
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:41:33
Such questions may be more pertinent
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:42:37
thanks
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:42:43
Let's move then
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:42:52
!info #191: better support for Silverblue/Toolbox fonts installation (petersen)
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:42:58
!link https://pagure.io/i18n/issue/191
<@tagoh:matrix.org>
07:45:23
The main problem on supporting that would be how to deal with fontconfig conf file in a package. currently it can be simply applied as it is on the host. it is an issue for fontconfig side.
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:49:48
I just remembered hearing about https://libregraphicsmeeting.org/2024/wk-liamquin-opentypedesktop.html
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:51:57
tagoh: probably you can add some comment in the ticket
<@tagoh:matrix.org>
07:52:17
Jens Petersen: Interesting
<@tagoh:matrix.org>
07:52:20
paragan: Sure
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:52:23
Thanks
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:52:33
Let's move to next ticket
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:52:41
!info #192: improve Fedora CI for ibus (petersen)
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:52:46
!link https://pagure.io/i18n/issue/192
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:53:53
(just for the record: these tickets were all broken out from #158)
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:55:31
Anyway current first priority should still be running CI with Wayland I guess
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:58:10
Okay
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:58:15
anything else to discuss here?
<@paragan:matrix.org>
07:58:57
if not let's move to next ticket
<@juhp:matrix.org>
07:58:59
Anyone tried xwfb-run ?
<@mfabian:matrix.org>
07:59:56
Not yet, but I'll try.
<@mfabian:matrix.org>
08:01:33
I am trying to fix some other problems in the CI tests at the moment, when I am done with that I’ll try xwfb-run.
<@paragan:matrix.org>
08:02:43
!info #193: Installation of langpacks by geo location in gnome-software (petersen)
<@paragan:matrix.org>
08:02:52
!link https://pagure.io/i18n/issue/193
<@juhp:matrix.org>
08:05:32
The idea being that people don't always install in the local language but may still want local language support
<@juhp:matrix.org>
08:05:59
Not sure easy to do, though should be "possible" I guess
<@juhp:matrix.org>
08:06:06
Not sure how easy to do, though should be "possible" I guess
<@paragan:matrix.org>
08:06:14
is this possible on Live iso image?
<@juhp:matrix.org>
08:06:44
The is probably the smallest potentially most actionable of the split out tickets
<@juhp:matrix.org>
08:07:24
Good question... hm not sure - currently we don't post install anything in the installer
<@juhp:matrix.org>
08:07:41
This is probably the smallest potentially most actionable of the split out tickets
<@paragan:matrix.org>
08:08:20
so this looks like extension or same thing that fedora langpacks plugin is doing for gnome-software
<@juhp:matrix.org>
08:10:55
Yeah basically
<@paragan:matrix.org>
08:11:00
anything else to discuss for this ticket?
<@paragan:matrix.org>
08:12:05
if not let's move to next topic
