morning
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:00:46
Hello! Welcome!
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:01:51
!info This is a good time to bring up things like tickets that people are stuck on, blockers, tasks, requests, and/or features that require release engineering intervention.
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:01:51
!topic Init process.
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:02:03
Anything from anyone for init? I don't personally have anything.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:02:38
hello folks! how’s everyone doing?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:03:04
nothing from me off hand.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:04:03
not from me too, just migrations bits, before flock we need to ensure that we have migrated all the bits to new forge
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:04:24
I really don't see how scm-requests will move by flock. ;)
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:04:44
anything particular we are lacking right now? i think fedora-scam-requests and kiwi-descriptions is we are importantly missing
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:05:24
Could you say more, please? I haven't started looking into it yet so extra context is always welcome.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:05:42
yeah, those... there's other repos for other places in fedora, but those for releng.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:06:39
changing fedora-scm-requests to move to forge requires changing fedpkg and then pushing updates of it out and then getting all maintainers to update to that. Thats not going to be a super quick process.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:07:41
i think we opened a ticket for fedpkg update not really looked too deep

<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:09:01
Is there any chance you could give me a few pointers there Kevin? The ticket just says to update fedpkg.
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:09:13
In a comment asynchronously works just as well.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:10:11
right now 'fedpkg request-repo' and 'fedpkg request-branch' file tickets in https://pagure.io/releng/fedora-scm-requests/issues. They would need to adjust to filing them in forge.fedoraproject.org... and the toddler would need to handle processing those, etc
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>

or action runner (as I think tomas has suggested)

I need to do some investigative work here. Thanks for the information.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:12:21
yes!
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:12:34
One idea would be the EOL process, I should have the updated SOP soonish. Another would be parts of mass branching.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:13:06
coming back to this ⭕️
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:14:17
Just throw our docs into a LLM, ask it what could be automated, and then tell it to automate it. It's 2026 and we're fully agentic now. I don't see what's so difficult about this.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:14:32
uh huh. ;)
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:15:08
mass branching bits are already in the tickets at least I want to see if there are process also if we can improve on - we should look more on such requests every month or so
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:15:14
so we don’t go out of touch
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:16:42
i would still like us to work on the most day to day work we do as associates which can solve our immediate problems, still real life problems can be explained by people who actually do work
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:19:21
This step could be automated for sure.

15:20:05
For now I plan to at least change the relative paths to absolute paths for some clarity. But it'd be nice not to have to do the rsyncs manually as we know all the paths in advance and it's many hundreds of GB.
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:21:35
Shall we move on?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:22:53
Sure. I need to run and feed cats here in a few... they are milling. ;)
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:23:19
yes i’ll try to make it to next meeting or something as official topic

<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:25:09
Is this something that we actually handle? Or Miro? Should we have a ticket open for it?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:25:48
We haven't. There was a proposed process that never really got finalized.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:26:10
I think it should be removed from the schedule until / unless it gets clarified.
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:26:17
yeah
<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:26:38
need to actually reopen that discussion talk about it and see what needs to be done or close it
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:26:43
Removed from the schedule? May be easier and faster to finalize the process. 🤣
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:26:43
Someone proposed something, a bunch of discussion and a plan, but at the time releng said "Great, but we don't have cycles to do this" and then it just never went anywhere.
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:27:24
well, not so sure, but you can try. ;)
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:28:07
Is this something that would have to be brought up before FESCo then? And it already has and there's a ticket for it somewhere?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:28:32
yes, and there were tickets and lots of devel list discussions in the past.

for all the releng related we try to consolidate in tickets repo itself
<@patrikp:matrix.org>
15:46:33

<@jnsamyak:matrix.org>
15:47:03
but seems like a good request - why do we need to close?
<@nirik:matrix.scrye.com>
15:48:30
It seems pretty minor to me... but also it is something that has to change in compose-tracker right? so not sure why it would need to be tracked in releng?
