So on this topic, the last I heard was the Fedora bootc initiative was going to get re-upped for another year as the general image mode idea was going to continue

outside of CoreOS

but I've been offline due to travel and things the past two weeks

Personally I am in favor of having an Image Mode meeting and have FCOS topics be a section on the agenda of that meeting

Yeah in the chat we discussed that if we did combine meetings then it would be rebranded to something like "image mode" meetings as to include both topics.

That is a concern. I personally haven't wanted to get started with CoreOS and just use bootc fedora images. So image mode in my mind is completely divorced from FCOS. Not sure how others feel about the overlap there

Sure, so Fedora has a new forge (self-hosted) based on the Forgejo project. The idea is to migrate from the existing pagure.io to that new instance

I am not sure what will happen about the Fedora org on gitlab but I was wondering if we want to move to forgejo

One benefit for moving, is that IIUC the forge will have fedora hosted workers to run things like GitHub actions etc ...

which is appealing for fedora-bootc

I think it would be good to find out the long-term plan for the GitLab instance. It would be very nice if the Forgejo instance becomes the single place for all Fedora projects to centralise on.

I can answer on that. Technically bootc is a CNCF trademark now, so it gets wonky trying to work that in.

The big news is that the FCOS next stream is officially switched over to F43, which includes now being built via podman build (using fedora-bootc), and leveraging signature verification on container pulls.
