12:11:12 <kshlm> Ah!
12:11:35 <kshlm> Hey jdarcy!
12:11:55 <jdarcy> Morning. I'd say *good* morning, but y'know.
12:12:12 <kshlm> Morning to you as well.
12:12:18 <samikshan> :D
12:12:25 <post-factum> hello all
12:12:35 <kshlm> Okay. Let's continue.
12:13:07 <kshlm> As kkeithley volunteered to host the next meeting there will not be any call for hosts this week.
12:13:12 <kshlm> #topic Open floor
12:13:35 <kshlm> #topic FSFE etherpad shutting down.
12:13:44 <kshlm> So this was brought up last week.
12:14:32 <kshlm> We decided to find and archive any existing pads into github wikis.
12:14:50 <kshlm> nigelb and I started by archiving the community meeting pad.
12:15:02 <jdarcy> Time to search those browser histories.
12:15:11 <kshlm> Now we need to begin finding all other pads.
12:15:19 <kshlm> And we'll need help with this.
12:15:58 <kshlm> If someone is willing to lead the effort of searching and collecting these, please volunteer.
12:16:09 <kshlm> jdarcy, Yup. It's time.
12:16:59 <kshlm> By the way, the archived pad is at http://github.com/gluster/glusterfs/wiki/Community-meeting-archive
12:17:40 <kshlm> New meetings starting from last week will have their own pages as http://github.com/gluster/glusterfs/wiki/Community-meeting-YYYY-MM-DD
12:18:15 <kshlm> I've created a new template at https://github.com/gluster/glusterfs/wiki/Community-meeting-template to help ease creation of a new pad everyweek.
12:18:31 <kshlm> Does anyone have any questions about this?
12:20:12 * kshlm feels like he'll talking all by himself today
12:20:48 <jdarcy> Sorry. Up late last night, might have been drinking, still a bit groggy.
12:21:11 <Saravanakmr> kshlm, We need a page for this one too - https://public.pad.fsfe.org/p/gluster-community-meetings
12:21:48 <kshlm> Saravanakmr, that's been archived.
12:21:58 <kshlm> I'll archive the current one after the meeting.
12:22:05 <samikshan> http://github.com/gluster/glusterfs/wiki/Community-meeting-archive has that right?
12:22:28 <post-factum> why abandoning etherpads?
12:22:38 <kshlm> post-factum, FSFE etherpad is shutting down.
12:22:46 <Saravanakmr> post-factum, Please note that the FSFE pad service will be decommissioned. We no longer recommend to use it for any active project. Please see our decommission notice for more information about this. The final date of accessing information in this pad will be the 1st of February 2017 and we welcome the help from anyone interested in helping us setup and maintain a new, modern, pad service.
12:22:46 <post-factum> oh. strange. why?
12:22:58 <kshlm> It'll turn read-only from Dec-1. And turn off Feb 1
12:23:00 <Saravanakmr> post-factum, this is message displayed
12:23:21 <post-factum> hmm okay thanks kshlm, Saravanakmr
12:23:29 <Saravanakmr> I think this decision may be reviewed in future - but we should be ready.
12:24:03 <kshlm> Anyone want to volunteer help find and collect gluster etherpads on FSFE?
12:24:31 <Saravanakmr> kshlm, I will do
12:24:41 <kshlm> Saravanakmr, Cool.
12:24:43 <Saravanakmr> with your help :)
12:25:39 <kshlm> #action Saravanakmr will take up the task for finding and collecting all gluster etherpads on FSFE etherpad.
12:26:06 <kshlm> Do we have any more questions or comments on this?
12:26:31 <post-factum> yes
12:26:47 <post-factum> will it be moved to github wiki, or we should find some another pad service?
12:27:04 <kshlm> post-factum, The wiki is just a permanent archive.
12:27:09 <post-factum> i mean, will wiki be used as pad?
12:27:16 <Saravanakmr> same question here
12:27:19 <kshlm> Real-time collaboration will happen on ehterpad.
12:27:39 <kshlm> We still need to find an alternative,
12:28:07 <kshlm> but before that, we want to establish some guidelines about how we'd like to use etherpad.
12:28:28 <kshlm> And before we do that, we want to find and archive anything already present.
12:28:39 <post-factum> kshlm, shouldn't be smth fired up on some community server? i mean, self-hosted pad
12:28:44 <post-factum> misc, nigelb ^^
12:29:07 <kshlm> It could be done. But nigelb wasn't a big fan of it in the last meeting.
12:29:14 <post-factum> heh :)
12:29:16 * rastar enters now
12:29:36 <kshlm> Hey rastar! Are you on DST too?
12:30:17 <jdarcy> IIRC, nigelb was quite *strongly* opposed.
12:30:38 <rastar> kshlm: he he
12:30:45 <jdarcy> Something about having maintained such a beast before.
12:30:53 <kshlm> Yeah for the mozilla community.
12:31:15 <kshlm> They are one of the options for a replacement actually.
12:31:35 <post-factum> jdarcy, but hey, this should be just simple html input field
12:32:21 <sankarshan> the etherpad app itself is not a simple one. aside from the fact it is well recorded by many to be unpleasant to maintain and upgrade
12:33:09 <post-factum> me googles "online collab pad"
12:33:17 * post-factum sees lots of options
12:33:30 <kshlm> post-factum, Let us know your findings.
12:33:45 <kshlm> I'll move onto the next (and last topic) of the day.
12:33:47 <sankarshan> possibly best to collate them as a note to the infra mailing list
12:34:15 <kkeithley> _o/
12:34:30 <post-factum> kshlm, i do not know the criteria for choosing pad
12:34:54 <kshlm> kkeithley, you're here!
12:35:01 <hchiramm> may be a ML discussion to get options :)
12:35:28 <kshlm> post-factum, My preference would be once that supports markdown.
12:35:35 <kshlm> But even that doesn't matter.
12:35:40 <kkeithley> yup
12:35:56 <kshlm> I'll move on.
12:36:05 <post-factum> kshlm, https://hackmd.io/ :)
12:36:21 <kshlm> #topic New format meetings. Should we continue?
12:37:07 <kshlm> post-factum, Let's continue that discussion afterwards. :)
12:37:14 <post-factum> kshlm, yes sorry
12:37:44 <kshlm> As announced on the mailing lists, we are trialling the new (update free) format of the meetings for 3 weeks.
12:37:52 <kshlm> This is the 3rd week.
12:38:07 <kshlm> Now we need to decide if we want to continue.
12:38:33 <hchiramm> +1
12:38:35 <post-factum> +1
12:38:38 <kshlm> What is the communities opinion of this?
12:39:22 <kshlm> +1 for continuing right ;)
12:39:24 <Saravanakmr> +1
12:39:30 <hchiramm> yeah :P
12:39:44 <post-factum> sure, why not
12:40:08 <kshlm> Cool!
12:40:19 <kshlm> Are there any changes anyone would like?
12:41:23 <samikshan> I think this question needs to be asked on the MLs, or maybe if there is an existing thread reactivate it?
12:41:45 <samikshan> +1 from me too though :)
12:41:55 <rastar> +1
12:42:09 <kshlm> samikshan, I'd like to hear first from people who actually attend the meetings.
12:42:20 <kshlm> Hey hagarth!
12:42:45 <samikshan> yep. sure
12:43:44 <kshlm> Everyone here is completely happy with the new format?
12:44:35 <kshlm> Awesome.
12:44:50 <kshlm> I'll send out a call for feedback on the mailing lists too.
12:45:06 <kshlm> #action kshlm will ask for feedback on the trial run of the new meeting format
12:45:27 <kshlm> We're done with the topics for the week.
12:45:28 <samikshan> Thanks :)
12:45:49 <atinm> I think its much better than the older one :)
12:45:53 <kshlm> If there are last minute topic of discussion, we can take them up now.
12:46:00 <kkeithley> wrt to chairing the meeting next week....
12:46:15 <kkeithley> with daylight savings ending I get to the office too late.
12:46:45 <kkeithley> too late to host
12:46:51 <kshlm> kkeithley, That means you won't be chairing the next meeting?
12:47:02 <kkeithley> unless you want to change the start time
12:47:04 <post-factum> kkeithley, that means, you'll come to office earlier
12:47:29 <kkeithley> I'll let you tell my wife she needs to get up earlier. I drop her off at the train on the way to work
12:48:07 <post-factum> uh, that would be hard then
12:48:18 <kkeithley> a bit
12:48:51 <kshlm> With kkeithley not available, anyone want to host next weeks meeting?
12:49:18 <kkeithley> sorry about that. I forgot about daylight savings ending.
12:49:56 <kshlm> Offtopic, I thought daylight savings began in the winter. Isn't that when you need to have more light.
12:50:16 <kkeithley> it starts in spring, ends in November
12:50:25 <post-factum> kshlm, vice-versa
12:51:02 <kshlm> Hmm. TIL.
12:51:13 <kshlm> I'm just happy I don't have to deal with it.
12:51:25 <kkeithley> more daylight earlier in the day, so farmers could work in the fields and factory workers need less artificial light.
12:51:28 <kkeithley> Thank the
12:51:48 <kkeithley> Thank the Germans for the idea, back before World War I.
12:52:22 <kkeithley> IIRC
12:52:41 <kkeithley> these days it doesn't matter, but we just keep doing it because that's the way we've always done it.
12:53:02 * kshlm should read up on DST sometime.
12:53:09 <kkeithley> (BTW, that's one of the ways you identify a dinosaur.)
12:53:31 <kkeithley> lol
12:53:44 <kkeithley> read up on it when you have insomnia
12:54:25 <kshlm> Anyways, I volunteer myself as next weeks host.
12:54:47 <kshlm> That's it.
12:54:59 <kshlm> There are no more topics to be discussed.
12:55:13 <kshlm> There aren't any important updates either.
12:55:37 <kshlm> The next 3.8 release (3.8.6) should happen around this weekend.
12:56:25 <kshlm> And we end this meeting the regular announcements,
12:56:25 <kshlm> - If you're attending any event/conference please add the event and yourselves to Gluster attendance of events: http://www.gluster.org/events (replaces https://public.pad.fsfe.org/p/gluster-events)
12:56:25 <kshlm> - Put (even minor) interesting topics on https://public.pad.fsfe.org/p/gluster-weekly-news
12:56:25 <kshlm> - Remember to add your updates to the next meetings agenda.
12:56:34 <kshlm> Thanks all.
12:56:45 <kshlm> See you all next week.
