12:15:04 <asamalik> #topic 1/ Last week's stats
12:15:19 * asamalik goes play with numbers and wordpress
12:16:11 <stickster> Ah right, that happened (cancel) and we did forget to mail the group about it. Mainly it was a problem because I couldn't be fully here last week either. That's increasingly the case unfortunately due to $dayjob.
12:16:40 <jakfrost> my apologies
12:16:49 <asamalik> yeah an I had to take a day off that day and couldn't come, either
12:17:19 <asamalik> #info Week of 31 Aug: 54.3k pageviews
12:17:32 <jakfrost> thats down a bit
12:17:45 <asamalik> that's the lowest since Jun except for one week
12:18:09 <asamalik> but it's been just one article on 31 August
12:18:19 <asamalik> so, considering that, not bad
12:18:29 <jakfrost> yeah sorry for dropping the ball
12:19:18 <asamalik> no worries, this happens! :)
12:19:20 <asamalik> #topic 2/ In progress followup
12:19:20 <asamalik> #info Looking at the 'in progress' column, is there something that's been finished? Anything to follow up on with its author?
12:19:20 <asamalik> #link Board: https://teams.fedoraproject.org/project/asamalik-fedora-magazine/kanban
12:19:45 <asamalik> #info 3 articles in progress
12:20:10 <jakfrost> one is a test day
12:20:15 <jakfrost> for IoT
12:20:52 <asamalik> #227 (Python) is still in progress, there for just a few days
12:21:02 <asamalik> oh and there's a fourth one!
12:21:13 <jakfrost> a lenovo announcement
12:21:31 <asamalik> #226 is unassigned
12:21:46 <bcotton> and a 5th! ;-)
12:21:51 <asamalik> woot!
12:22:09 <jakfrost> wow, all of a ssudden like
12:22:10 <asamalik> that's a lot of stuff, we need to skip a week more often!
12:22:29 * asamalik goes hunt down the IoT article as there's no link or assignee
12:23:27 <stickster> Didn't we have a How Do You Fedora on the way too?
12:23:27 * jakfrost couldn't find it
12:23:42 <jakfrost> It is in review on WP I think'
12:23:45 <asamalik> yeah also can't find it
12:24:11 <bcotton> this? https://fedoramagazine.org/?p=31597&preview=true
12:25:03 <jakfrost> yep thats it
12:25:17 <asamalik> well let's keep the IoT there for now, I see sumantro created it, maybe he'll move if forward
12:25:37 <jakfrost> I thought there was a card on Taiga for the "How do you Fedora?"
12:26:16 <asamalik> yeah, I was supposed to get the How Do You Fedora out the door, I just wasn't able to do that in time :/
12:26:23 <asamalik> there is
12:26:24 <asamalik> in To Edit
12:26:27 <bcotton> there is: #224
12:26:32 <asamalik> yes
12:27:05 <jakfrost> dohh, it is in edit already, I forgot
12:27:05 <asamalik> I will not be able to look at it this week unfortunately
12:27:17 <jakfrost> I can
12:27:23 <asamalik> jakfrost++
12:27:28 <asamalik> that would be a huge help!
12:27:50 <jakfrost> so lot's in progress
12:28:07 <asamalik> anything else in In Progress that we can move forward?
12:29:09 <jakfrost> what's happening with #131 the RHEL @linux.conf.au
12:29:27 <asamalik> just looking at it... it's weird, I wonder if someone moved it by accident
12:29:48 <asamalik> it's almost half a year old also
12:30:02 <jakfrost> true
12:30:39 <asamalik> stickster was suggesting deleting that card in April and there is no response
12:30:45 <asamalik> I feel like it's the time now maybe?
12:31:08 <asamalik> looks like it's just a proposal that was approved back then
12:31:13 <asamalik> and, yeah, deleting
12:31:27 <stickster> Yeah, I think this was just a goof.
12:31:40 <asamalik> do people agree with deleting?
12:31:42 <stickster> History in the card will say one way or the other usually
12:31:51 <jakfrost> +1
12:32:16 <stickster> +=
12:32:19 <stickster> oops, +1
12:32:20 <bcotton> RIP card
12:32:44 <asamalik> all right, I feel like that's it for In Progresz
12:32:47 <asamalik> Progress
12:33:00 <asamalik> #topic 3/ Finished articles to review
12:33:00 <asamalik> #info Looking at the 'review' column, let's decide which articles are good to go. Move each either to the 'to edit' (finished) or to the 'in progress' (needs more work) and provide feedback.
12:33:00 <asamalik> #link Board: https://teams.fedoraproject.org/project/asamalik-fedora-magazine/kanban
12:33:29 <asamalik> yay backups! #228
12:33:41 <jakfrost> incremental no less
12:33:58 <asamalik> that's even more cool
12:35:07 <jakfrost> it was cool for me, I had to use it last week to get my gear back up and running
12:35:15 <jakfrost> at least snapshots
12:35:49 <asamalik> looks good to me, I'd move it forward
12:36:19 <jakfrost> +1
12:39:03 <asamalik> #topic 4/ Articles to edit
12:39:03 <asamalik> #info Looking at the 'to edit' column, assign an editor and a cover image creator.
12:39:03 <asamalik> #link Board: https://teams.fedoraproject.org/project/asamalik-fedora-magazine/kanban
12:39:23 <asamalik> #info 2 articles in the to edit column
12:39:52 <jakfrost> I'll take both
12:39:57 <asamalik> woot
12:40:17 <jakfrost> I can get to them this week
12:40:29 <asamalik> jakfrost++
12:40:39 <bcotton> jakfrost++
12:40:44 <jakfrost> one for Friday and the other for Monday should be doable
12:40:55 <jakfrost> cookie, yumm
12:41:06 <jakfrost> +s
12:41:09 <asamalik> #action jakfrost to do everything :D (or at least edit and image #228 and #224)
12:41:19 <jakfrost> Lol
12:43:04 <asamalik> #topic 5/ Publishing schedule
12:43:04 <asamalik> #info Looking at the 'queued' and 'to edit' columns, decide the publishing schedule for the next week period.
12:43:04 <asamalik> #info If there is not enough content, we might also need to look at the 'in progress' or even the 'article spec' columns come up with additional content.
12:43:04 <asamalik> #link Board: https://teams.fedoraproject.org/project/asamalik-fedora-magazine/kanban
12:43:58 <asamalik> #proposed #agreed PUBLISHING SCHEDULE: Fri 11 Sep 2020: #224 Ankur Sinha: How do you Fedora? (image: jakfrost, edit: jakfrost) -- Mon 14 Sep 2020: #228 Incremental backups with Btrfs snapshots (image: jakfrost, edit: jakfrost)
12:44:06 <jakfrost> +1
12:44:29 <bcotton> ack, with the caveat that the lenovo article may come in at any moment (just waiting on Lenovo to provide a little bit of information)
12:44:56 <jakfrost> sounds good, we can juggle schedule
12:44:56 <asamalik> I'd be fine with you pressing the button at any time
12:45:03 <asamalik> it's a special case
12:45:03 <jakfrost> me too
12:45:07 <asamalik> it needs to go when it needs to g o
12:45:11 <asamalik> *go
12:45:24 <asamalik> #agreed PUBLISHING SCHEDULE: Fri 11 Sep 2020: #224 Ankur Sinha: How do you Fedora? (image: jakfrost, edit: jakfrost) -- Mon 14 Sep 2020: #228 Incremental backups with Btrfs snapshots (image: jakfrost, edit: jakfrost)
12:47:02 <asamalik> #topic 7/ Editor of the Week
12:47:03 <asamalik> #info XXXX will be Editor of the Week next week
12:47:10 <asamalik> #undo
12:47:10 <zodbot> Removing item from minutes: INFO by asamalik at 12:47:03 : XXXX will be Editor of the Week next week
12:47:28 * asamalik has copied one too many lines
12:48:04 <asamalik> who would like to be the Editor of the Week next week?
12:49:17 <asamalik> next week I should be able to take it
12:49:56 <bcotton> i'll volunteer myself as tribute if you don't want it, asamalik
12:50:38 <jakfrost> Just a question but do we find this role working?
12:50:45 <jakfrost> I mean EOW
12:51:09 <asamalik> oh it is absolutely working... before that it was mostly me chairing every week... so from my perspective, a huge help
12:51:11 <bcotton> it seems like it's working fairly well to me
12:51:19 <jakfrost> asamalik++
12:51:23 <asamalik> bcotton: if you're ok with taking it, I'm ok with that, too!
12:51:34 <bcotton> yeah, lay it on me. i haven't taken a turn in a while
12:51:46 <asamalik> if we had more people, it would work even better, but that's not a problem of the EOW
12:52:03 <asamalik> #info bcotton will be Editor of the Week next week
12:52:04 <asamalik> bcotton++
12:52:11 <jakfrost> bcotton++
12:52:19 <asamalik> #topic 8/ Open floor
12:52:25 <asamalik> wow we even have 8 mins left
12:52:31 <asamalik> anything to discuss here?
12:52:47 <jakfrost> I'm good
12:52:55 <asamalik> ftr, I have an action to decomission the mailing list (or to ask bcotton how to do it), just need to get to it
12:53:20 <asamalik> otherwise, I'm good, too
12:53:37 <bcotton> might be good to remove all the subscribers and not let anyone new join but leave it up for the archives
12:53:39 <jakfrost> that's cool
12:53:52 * stickster pops up for air and agrees the forum has been working better. Once again the only objection I saw was from someone who we haven't seen other than that objection
12:54:09 <asamalik> hah!
12:54:23 <asamalik> yep, I'm happy with the forum, too
12:54:30 <jakfrost> me too
12:54:39 <stickster> Taiga on the other hand... :-\
12:54:58 <stickster> (I love the kanban, just not Taiga as much) :-D
12:55:19 <jakfrost> the concept is attractive, and it helps focus flow
12:55:28 <asamalik> Taiga does most of the things we need the most inconvenient way possible and doesn't work on touch screens :D
12:55:45 <jakfrost> the conversations in two spots is again a detractor
12:56:12 <jakfrost> Ah, I don't use Touch Screens unless forced to
12:56:26 * bcotton forces jakfrost to use a touch screen
12:56:39 * asamalik has a phone and a tablet, and yes, also forces jakfrost to use a touch screen
12:56:59 <jakfrost> okay, I use them, just prefer my keyboard
12:57:00 <asamalik> so it looks like we've done it all today! :D
12:57:03 <asamalik> anything else?
12:57:21 <jakfrost> build a Tardis
12:57:34 <asamalik> that would be a space saver!
12:57:57 <stickster> I feel like forum + kanban makes sense. One is for discussions, the other is for tracking work. That mimics almost every other usage pattern I've seen for any team (not just Fedora folks). The fact that Taiga has no mobile method is a huge gap. I don't understand how anyone can say they make a "serious" app that has no mobile client.
12:58:25 <stickster> lol tardis++
12:58:25 <jakfrost> true on that point
12:58:51 <asamalik> yep, those two places seems fine for me, too
12:59:43 <asamalik> looks like there is a kanban component for discourse! https://meta.discourse.org/t/kanban-board-theme-component/118164
12:59:53 <asamalik> anyway, we're out of time
12:59:56 <asamalik> thanks all for coming!
12:59:59 <jakfrost> bye
13:00:18 <asamalik> #endmeeting
