15:33:11 <pbokoc> sclark, hey! Joining us for the meeting? :)
15:33:23 <pbokoc> also x3mboy
15:33:34 <x3mboy> .hello2
15:33:34 <sclark> Yes. Just a bit late. Sorry.
15:33:34 <zodbot> x3mboy: x3mboy 'Eduard Lucena' <eduardlucena@gmail.com>
15:33:42 <x3mboy> I'm here
15:33:54 <pbokoc> alright, I think that's everyone who's joining today
15:33:58 <pbokoc> #topic Release Notes
15:34:06 <pbokoc> write them :)
15:34:44 <pbokoc> sclark, I'm looking at your PR, I'll merge it soon. Also I accidentally unassigned you from the issue you reported and now I don't seem to have perms to assign it back to you
15:35:24 <sclark> No problem. I will reclaim it.
15:35:42 * bexelbie goes to figure out why pbokoc can't assign that issue
15:36:29 <bexelbie> weird, I could assign it ... did you wait for the autocomplete pbokoc ?
15:36:49 <pbokoc> bexelbie, I think it's because I'm only an "admin" for the repo as a member of @fedora-docs, while you're the "main admin". Yeah, the autocomplete never even shows up for me, but it does work in comments
15:37:00 <pbokoc> I mean it's possible it's just my browser acting funky, dunno
15:37:20 <sclark> I can see that it is now assigned to me again.
15:37:33 <bexelbie> pbokoc, you sometimes have to ... wait on the autocomplete
15:37:37 <pbokoc> anyway, anything else for release notes? We're getting close to release (May 1 is the preferred target), and we'll need to package it sometime before that
15:38:00 <bexelbie> I've got someone who will help us with some of hte packaging concerns from last release
15:38:20 <bexelbie> I'd appreciate a packagers help though as I am barely able to find time to do antora, though I am a packager
15:38:50 <pbokoc> what happened last release?
15:38:52 <bexelbie> I'll ping the person who contacted me
15:39:05 <bexelbie> pbokoc, we didn't package all of the javascript libraries so the offline experience was perfect
15:39:15 <bexelbie> adamw, wanted to know if we could improve that experience
15:39:54 <pbokoc> I think it was more like "adamw will hunt us down like animals if we leave it to the last minute again"
15:41:00 <bexelbie> well yes, that
15:41:01 <bexelbie> :D
15:41:27 <pbokoc> also tbh I don't see a problem with packaging the whole thing as a plaintext file. If you want to read the relnotes in a browser, just go to the website
15:42:01 * jsmith shows up late, as usual
15:42:02 <bexelbie> pbokoc, If we can package the html I think that is preferred
15:42:16 <pbokoc> bexelbie, really? Hmm, ok then
15:42:43 <pbokoc> so, anyway, bexelbie please try talking to the person who offered help then, we should get on this sooner rather than later
15:42:54 <bexelbie> I've got it on my list for tomorrow morning
15:42:55 <pbokoc> which also goes for *writing the actual release notes* :)
15:43:14 <pbokoc> alright, anything else on this topic?
15:43:51 <pbokoc> #topic New publishing toolchain - Antora
15:44:16 <pbokoc> so, what's new bexelbie? :)
15:44:28 <bexelbie> I hope people looked at what got posted in the meeting last week
15:44:34 * bexelbie can dig up the url if needed
15:44:42 <pbokoc> minutes are here: https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting/2018-04-11/fedora_docs.2018-04-11-15.31.log.html
15:44:49 <pbokoc> err, full log I mean
15:44:50 <bexelbie> honestly, we didn't make huge progress last week as I spent quite a bit of time cleaning up PRs in quickdocs
15:45:14 <bexelbie> however, we did see that they have a provisional idea on solving search. asamalik and I worked on it, but weren't completely successful in getting that working
15:45:44 <bexelbie> we did however, do a bigger PoC on translations, so now we need to work on UI updates, search implementation (phase PoC) and pushing some content to Zanata so we can do an end-to-end test on our translation theory
15:46:18 <bexelbie> I've also started talking to others using antora who are on related projects to see if we can find some crossproject implementation collaboration with people with similar needs
15:46:27 <bexelbie> I also talked to our friends at OpenShift who are behind AsciiBinder
15:46:36 <bexelbie> they are going to do some PoCs on Antora as well as they see value here
15:46:45 <bexelbie> so all in all it looks like we are definitely swiming in the right direction
15:46:48 <bexelbie> eof
15:47:29 <pbokoc> hmm, interaction with Zanata is going to be interesting. Do we even have a translation history at this point - after we migrated from docbook? That made all the old strings either mismatch or at least require a review, didn't it?
15:47:58 <bexelbie> all strings will require a review
15:48:15 <bexelbie> we did some testing on the current doc set and jlibfed and folks have some idea of what is coming
15:48:29 <bexelbie> but we should try to get more details about our style guide done as they help translators
15:48:37 <pbokoc> alright, that sounds manageable
15:48:41 <bexelbie> I think it will be
15:48:45 <pbokoc> wait, we have a style guide? :D
15:49:08 <bexelbie> well the writing guide
15:49:16 <bexelbie> and we do need to fill that out more when we can get to a point where we can
15:49:19 <bexelbie> :D
15:49:26 <bexelbie> jsmith, started a refresh
15:49:51 <jsmith> We have half a style guide, and a etherpad with notes on the other half.
15:49:56 <jsmith> They're part of the documentation guide.
15:51:10 <x3mboy> I'm here
15:51:27 <pbokoc> alright, anyone have any questions about Antora or anything to add?
15:51:42 <bexelbie> The hack invitiation remains open :)
15:51:56 <x3mboy> Sorry, I'm trying to work a little bit with the style guide, but I'm a little stuck with work things (I need to earn money to eat)
15:52:03 <bexelbie> x3mboy, respect
15:52:05 <pbokoc> ah yeah, I saw that. I don't think I can come this week unfortunately.
15:52:09 <jsmith> I have lots of questions about Antora -- but I'll leanr more as I start packaging it for Fedora
15:52:40 <jsmith> I will try to work on the Style Guide more as well -- probably sometime Thursday night after 8pm EDT
15:53:20 <pbokoc> jsmith, sounds good!
15:53:35 <pbokoc> #topic Open Floor
15:53:47 * jsmith should have just done more Fedora work instead of trying to do grad school
15:53:51 <pbokoc> so, does anyone have anything about anything else?
15:53:57 <pbokoc> hahaha
15:54:19 <x3mboy> How is the "Are you active in docs?" going?
15:54:29 <x3mboy> I saw a lot of replies
15:54:35 <bexelbie> I've got about 60 emails to read on Tuesday
15:54:41 <bexelbie> so I can make a report on Wednesday
15:54:41 <bexelbie> :D
15:54:46 <pbokoc> oh look, Yoana finally replied
15:55:07 <pbokoc> I see 22 replies on the list, a bunch more off-list probably
15:55:50 <pbokoc> I have an idea: every applicant has to write one release note for f28
15:56:08 <bexelbie> +1
15:56:33 <bexelbie> In all seriousness, I hope the release note tickets are being more complete than in the past so they can be good first tasks if we have a style guide
15:57:01 <pbokoc> the issue system is definitely much better than doing this between the Wiki and straight in the repo
15:57:45 <sclark> +1
15:58:46 <pbokoc> I should probably have a look at the template at some point
15:59:28 <bexelbie> pbokoc, +1 to template. There is also a set of "changes to changes" moving forward. We may be able to clean that up a bit and help get even better inputs
16:00:04 <pbokoc> bexelbie, you mean the change system is being revised?
16:01:08 <bexelbie> pbokoc, there is a proposal to change what is required to file a change as it moves through the process
16:01:20 <bexelbie> the mechanics is not being changed, just a request to rearrange what is asked for
16:01:26 <pbokoc> bexelbie, right
16:01:31 <bexelbie> jsmith, is on FESCo that is driving that, iirc
16:01:59 <jsmith> Well, it was Marketing that brought it to FESCo.
16:02:12 <jsmith> I suggested that they open a FESCo ticket with the proposed changes.
16:02:41 <pbokoc> right, so the idea is to make change owners provide more useful information to us as part of the change proposal?
16:02:56 <x3mboy> And there is one. Someone in FESCo is going to help with this, now I don't remember who
16:02:58 <x3mboy> :D
16:03:04 <bexelbie> pbokoc, that came out of a conversation I had with jkurik and which I can re-have with the new jkurik :D
16:03:25 <x3mboy> Sorry, I don't have expansion's slot in my brain
16:03:34 <pbokoc> new jkurik? Did they turn him into a robocop? I'm a bit out of the loop :)
16:03:52 <pbokoc> also we're out of time so let's take it to the docs channel; thank you for coming everyone, and once again, write some release notes!
16:03:56 <pbokoc> #endmeeting
