18:00:31 <smooge> #topic Announcements
18:00:54 <nirik> morning
18:01:03 <avij> hi
18:01:03 <smooge> hello all
18:01:15 <smooge> this will be a very short meeting as I forgot to send out an agenda
18:02:02 <smooge> ok the only item I have for today is the following.
18:02:02 <puiterwijk> Hello
18:02:22 <smooge> #info EPEL 6 and 7 directory layout changed due to updates in bodhi.
18:03:54 <smooge> Previously epel-6 and epel-7 had been special cased to have a directory layout different from current Fedora. This was causing problems in code paths and testing and so when the new release system was put in place.. EPEL-6 and EPEL-7 now match Fedora's directory layout
18:04:24 <smooge> this however will have caused problems for people who have been hardcoding various paths
18:04:46 <avij> they should not be doing that anyway
18:04:48 <smooge> or using tools outside of yum/reposync on getting packages from the repository
18:06:02 <smooge> people should not do a lot of things. As long as it doesn't hurt them they do it anyway. In this case the walking across the intersection while juggling finally hit the mac truck of progress
18:06:13 <smooge> or some such metaphor
18:07:00 <avij> I've been only following the CentOS forums, and I haven't heard of complaints in there. there was this one guy who complained on #epel.
18:07:01 <nirik> ha
18:07:02 <smooge> in anycase, I will be writing a blog to cover the change and letting mirrors know also as some people may not run with --delete so have multiple packages in places
18:07:28 <smooge> or they are using good old mirror.sh script
18:07:47 <puiterwijk> smooge: well, if they run without --delete, they likely want to retain the old versions of packages, so then this would... work for them?
18:08:47 <smooge> puiterwijk, if they use --delete but not with hardlinks.. then they have extra disk space issues. If they use the old ftp mirror scripts then they have packages with duplicates all over the place
18:09:03 <puiterwijk> Ah, I see. Okay
18:09:54 <smooge> and I am pretty sure there are people like that as I got asked last week why they couldn't ftp sync from the dl.fedoraproject.org anymore
18:10:14 <smooge> 8 years people. 8 fing years
18:11:04 <smooge> ok rant done
18:11:37 <smooge> anything else on this?
18:12:21 <avij> nope, seems to work ok
18:12:33 <smooge> I am actually amazed how quiet a transitition on the mirroring went. It used to be one of htose immediate hit the devel lists about the lack of humanity
18:13:18 <smooge> ok cool. thanks puiterwijk for all the work on getting bodhi deployed. My next set of questions will be on how to make bodhi compose a 'epel release' and updates :)
18:14:01 <smooge> #topic open floor
18:14:15 <smooge> ok if anyone has something for open floor this is it.
18:14:20 <smooge> otherwise we can call it
18:14:44 <avij> no open floor issues from me
18:14:49 <smooge> #endmeeting
