20:01:11 <robyduck> .hello robyduck
20:01:12 <zodbot> robyduck: robyduck 'Robert Mayr' <robyduck@gmail.com>
20:01:34 <nmilosev> Let's wait a few more minutes for others to show up.
20:02:40 <Sanqui> hi, I'm not an ambassador but I was invited by eischmann to participate as I'm seeking mentorship. :)
20:03:07 <elioqoshi> .hello elioqoshi
20:03:08 <zodbot> elioqoshi: elioqoshi 'Elio Qoshi' <ping@elioqoshi.me>
20:03:09 <lupinix> Sanqui: you're welcome :)
20:03:10 <nmilosev> Welcome Sanqui :) can you do a short introduction?
20:03:12 <jonatoni> welcome Sanqui :)
20:03:23 <elioqoshi> Hola Sanqui !
20:04:13 <sesivany> .fas eischmann
20:04:15 <zodbot> sesivany: eischmann 'Jiri Eischmann' <eischmann@redhat.com>
20:04:29 <Sanqui> sure! I'm a coder from Prague who's been happily using Fedora for a few years. I generally do Python and Game Boy assembly :). I designed a device dubbed Fedorator for use on booths which lets you flash fedora onto usb sticks!
20:04:33 <sesivany> Sanqui: welcome!
20:05:06 <lupinix> Sanqui: i read about fedorator, very nice effort!
20:05:08 <nmilosev> Oh, you designed Fedorator? Awesome! :)
20:05:18 <lupinix> Sanqui++
20:05:25 <nmilosev> Any news on when it is going to be available for events?
20:05:58 <Sanqui> the idea is to make a workshop on Flock for building a bunch of them to spread around
20:06:21 <robyduck> didn't we have this years ago? Something similar? https://www.flickr.com/photos/lfoppiano/2427673878/in/set-72157604636767577/
20:06:53 <Sanqui> I was surprised by the amount of attention. I'll be pushing out a slightly redesigned version by the beginning of August
20:07:06 <Sanqui> robyduck: holy crap! fedora 8, that's awesome
20:07:06 <Rathann> .hello rathann
20:07:17 <elioqoshi> Sanqui let me know if you want design help with the GUI
20:07:19 <zodbot> Rathann: rathann 'Dominik Mierzejewski' <dominik@greysector.net>
20:07:30 <Sanqui> mine has a touchscreen which lets you select a spin :) https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/f/f8/Fedorator-prototype.jpg
20:07:56 <robyduck> Sanqui: yeah, that's some years ago, but the thought behind it is the same
20:08:04 <Sanqui> robyduck: didn't know about that - thank you!
20:08:18 <robyduck> yw

20:11:12 <Sanqui> I didn't do it before leaving abroad just in case, and then I forgot before leaving for cottage with little internet, so... next week haha
20:11:43 * lupinix uses f26 since pre-alpha phase without big issues ;)
20:12:00 <lupinix> only bad issue in development cycle was that annoying libdb bug
20:12:09 <nmilosev> On my chromebook, suspend started working ootb which is awesome

20:19:07 <lupinix> thanks everyone :)
20:19:36 <Rathann> lupinix: 2013
20:19:58 * nmilosev checks for other tickets
20:20:08 * lupinix was there too, but was not an ambassador at that time
20:21:14 <nmilosev> That's it for requests it seems, I don't think there is much to be discussed for #24 as it is all in the mailing list.

20:25:07 <nmilosev> Thanks everyone :)
20:25:15 <nmilosev> #topic Events
20:25:18 <Sanqui> the one in Prague is in about three weeks - I think I'll make it!
20:25:30 <nmilosev> Sanqui, make sure to send some pictures :)
20:25:31 <lupinix> Sanqui: did you register your irc nick? required for cookies ;)
20:25:59 <Sanqui> lupinix: it's registered with freenode, is there a registration for fas?
20:26:08 <lupinix> yes there is an entry
20:26:46 <Sanqui> I had it filled in
20:27:21 * lupinix did a small presentation on f26 but not really a release party as holidays just started here and it is quite empty @university
20:28:13 <lupinix> will do another one when semester starts as we have python courses starting then
20:28:25 <lupinix> and we have the shiny new python classroom lab now :)
20:29:46 <nmilosev> Great! :)
20:29:59 <nmilosev> Anyone has to report from some interesting events? Or upcoming ones?
20:31:18 <lupinix> nothing else here

20:32:27 <nmilosev> #topic Open Floor
20:32:33 <nmilosev> Anything goes here.
20:32:54 <nmilosev> I have a question for you all
20:33:14 <lupinix> i'm wondering why our meetings are often not well-visited
20:33:29 <nmilosev> It has been more than 6 months since I've been chairing the meetings, would anyone like to replace me?
20:33:44 <nmilosev> I believe 6 months is our "release cycle" for meeting chairs :)
20:33:49 <Sanqui> coming out of a two hours meeting over voice, which hasn't even ended before I joined here - this meeting has gone very smoothly :)
20:34:09 <sesivany> nmilosev: I did it for 3 years ;-)
20:34:14 <nmilosev> It's fine for me to continue, but if someone is willing to step in, I am happy to help get them up to speed :)
20:34:23 <elioqoshi> sesivany no pressure haha
20:34:23 <sesivany> but then I burned out... :(
20:34:41 <lupinix> at least you make a very good job nmilosev :)
20:34:48 <nmilosev> Thanks! :)
20:34:48 <lupinix> well organized
20:35:13 <nmilosev> sesivany, my schedule on Wednesdays is pretty alright for preparing the meetings, so I'm ok for now :)
20:35:24 <sesivany> I've got one topic to bring up too
20:35:35 <Sanqui> the other meeting hasn't even ended yet - looks like I'll have to be jumping back in after this one ends :( :P
20:35:45 <nmilosev> Sanqui, don't worry about it :)
20:36:04 <Sanqui> I'm only trying to express how pleasurable this meeting is heh
20:36:08 * lupinix would be not that reliable as he often has to work at evening/night as an astronomer, so he is not the best candidate
20:36:09 <sesivany> ! (once you're finished with this topic)
20:36:10 <elioqoshi> Folks, I was wondering what opportunities you see for Fedora to be involved in CryptoPartys? Maybe the Fedora Security Spin? GPG Key Management and Tor in Fedora?
20:36:23 <nmilosev> Sanqui, oh, I thought you had to go sorry
20:36:33 <nmilosev> We should follow protocol (bad chair :D)
20:36:38 <nmilosev> sesivany, you go first
20:36:39 <elioqoshi> Sorry, I just dropped it here, should have raised my hand
20:37:00 <sesivany> We've just finished the English version of the Fedora user handbook.
20:37:28 <sesivany> I'd like to print a small batch of it, haven't created a ticket yet.
20:37:44 <lupinix> sesivany: nice, do you have a link? :)
20:37:53 <sesivany> Then I hope national communities will go ahead and at least a couple of language version will pop up.
20:38:04 <sesivany> I do... mnt
20:38:48 <sesivany> https://pagure.io/ambassadors/fedora-handbook
20:39:13 <lupinix> thx
20:39:30 <sesivany> basically to make a language variation, you clone the repo, create a directory for your language, copy the content and start translating it.
20:39:49 <sesivany> but please waint until I make a release which will be tomorrow most likely.
20:40:06 <sesivany> I'll make a stable branch which will be supposed to be translated.
20:40:10 <nmilosev> sesivany, I will try and see if there are interested local contributors for a Serbian version :)
20:40:36 <nmilosev> And good job on translating it, I have the Cz version and it's looks awesome!
20:40:44 <sesivany> You can generate a Docbook, PDF, or HTML.
20:41:05 <sesivany> but if you want a printed version, you'll need to do the typesetting, e.g. in LaTex.
20:41:10 * lupinix will check for german contributors and will also help translating it in free time
20:41:26 <sesivany> we will have templates for CZ and EN, but it's different for every language.
20:41:44 <sesivany> every language has different typesetting rules.
20:42:06 <sesivany> And I'll have a workshop about it at Flock if you're coming ;)
20:42:12 <sesivany> eof
20:43:00 <nmilosev> Those are gonna be great for conferences, I also wanted to ask you what is the final decision about DVDs
20:43:04 <nmilosev> Are we still making media?
20:43:15 <sesivany> AFAIK we're not.
20:43:18 <Sanqui> ah yes, good one
20:43:24 <Sanqui> I heard that the decision is a no
20:43:28 <sesivany> at least I haven't received any request to order any.
20:43:44 <elioqoshi> Will we do USBs then?
20:43:45 <Sanqui> but I am wondering about the possibility of USB flash drives!
20:43:48 <sesivany> and the decision was that we discontinue them with F25.
20:43:56 <sesivany> Sanqui: too expensive
20:44:04 <sesivany> almost 10x more
20:44:05 <nmilosev> We discussed USBs, there were more cons than pros I believe
20:44:11 <Sanqui> note that they're approximately four-five times as expensive
20:44:39 <Sanqui> I haven't heard the discussion but I'm interested in it
20:45:04 <sesivany> The handbook could be at least partial replacement
20:45:18 <nmilosev> Sanqui, I can't remember exactly when it was, but one of our previous meetings (maybe 2-3 months ago)
20:45:21 <sesivany> one print costs ~$0.5
20:45:26 <lupinix> yes, handbook and stuff like stickers
20:45:56 <lupinix> @last conferences here in germany we were one of the last projects with DVDs
20:45:57 <fedbot> lupinix: (last [--{from,in,on,with,without,regexp} <value>] [--nolimit]) -- Returns the last message matching the given criteria. --from requires a nick from whom the message came; --in requires a channel the message was sent to; --on requires a network the message was sent on; --with requires some string that had to be in the message; --regexp requires a regular expression the message must match; --nolimit returns (1 more message)
20:46:06 <nmilosev> +Fedorator baby :D
20:46:28 <lupinix> openSUSE has usb sticks, other projects only had other swag
20:46:33 <lupinix> like mageia for example
20:46:42 <Sanqui> when I was looking into it I got to ~5 usd per usb flash drive
20:46:47 <nmilosev> Maybe we can ask openSUSE community how are they managing that
20:46:50 <Sanqui> a bit cheaper than that
20:47:08 <Sanqui> probably down to 4 or less with a large order
20:47:30 <nmilosev> I really liked the idea to produce only cases for Fedora DVD's and we burn them when we need them
20:47:37 <Sanqui> I understand that they can't just lay on the table for people to take away, but perhaps to give out to people who actually strike a conversation?
20:47:48 <lupinix> nmilosev: i asked them last year, answer was "we ordered less usb sticks than DVDs in the years before and just hand them out by request"
20:48:00 <Sanqui> they'd go very nicely with the fedorator :)
20:48:26 <Sanqui> and if they don't come preloaded, the time to wait before it flashes (~3 minutes) would also "deter" people
20:48:45 <nmilosev> Sanqui, if we were to connect external DVD writer to Fedorator, could it burn DVDs
20:48:53 <sesivany> USB sticks are ubiquitous, just give people the handbook where there is a step by step tutorial how to make a USB stick and send them to the opensuse booth to get one :D
20:49:07 <lupinix> *scnr*
20:49:07 <nmilosev> sesivany, :D put that in the handbook
20:49:13 <Sanqui> nmilosev: sure. but do people really want/use DVDs?
20:49:31 <nmilosev> Sanqui, not sure, personally they are too slow for me :D
20:49:50 <nmilosev> elioqoshi, sorry
20:49:52 <sesivany> Sanqui: very few as an installation media, some people take it as a collectible.
20:49:53 <Sanqui> people are using laptops, and many laptops are lacking a dvd drive.
20:50:08 * robyduck is still in favor of webkeys, as most people who ask for Fedora media are Win users
20:50:51 <robyduck> https://pagure.io/famsco/issue/425
20:50:55 <robyduck> sesivany: ^
20:51:18 <Sanqui> robyduck: thanks, subscribed
20:51:48 <nmilosev> elioqoshi, please tell us about your topic
20:51:53 <nmilosev> and sorry again
20:52:02 <elioqoshi> Yeah sure no worries
20:52:29 <elioqoshi> So we will do a Crypto Party with approximately 50-80 people in end of September
20:52:43 <Sanqui> ! about usb still.
20:53:11 <elioqoshi> I was wondering what opportunity there is for Fedora you think?
20:53:21 <elioqoshi> eof
20:53:51 <nmilosev> What are crypto parties about? Like hacking/penetration testing conference?
20:58:52 <nmilosev> Disconnected?
20:59:17 <nmilosev> hm
20:59:26 <sesivany> Probably
20:59:34 <Sanqui> well they sent EOF :) I've never been to one, unless you want to set up a booth I can't think of anything that wouldn't be too forced
20:59:40 <Sanqui> or just wear a t-shirt heh
21:00:08 <nmilosev> I believe it's a good opportunity to talk about fedora security spin :)
21:00:32 <Sanqui> probably. lightning talk perhaps?
21:00:40 <nmilosev> why not :)
21:00:49 <nmilosev> Sanqui, you were saying about usbs?
21:01:24 <Sanqui> well... only that I think that small USBs (even 64mb) that would hold fedora media writer (or a minimal netinstall - do we have those?) is a better idea than a webkey
21:02:00 <nmilosev> I believe those are hard to get, and not that much cheaper, but it's a good idea to see if we can find them
21:02:01 <sesivany> Sanqui: you really can't get small USBs
21:02:09 <sesivany> 2-4GB is minimum
21:02:18 <lupinix> yes, and 2 already enough for live
21:02:34 <sesivany> the minimal price stays the same and they increase capacity.
21:02:45 <sesivany> it's been like this for the last 5 years.
21:03:20 <sesivany> and the minimal price $4-5 unless you get some extremely good deal with high volume.
21:03:24 <Sanqui> okay
21:03:55 <Sanqui> I'm interested in this and would like to be involved - what else can I do besides follow the pagure issue? :)
21:04:27 <nmilosev> Post your findings there :) and let us know next meeting about what you found out
21:04:57 <nmilosev> I would love for us to have _some_ media, doesn't really matter what as long as we can hand it on booths
21:05:54 <Sanqui> ok, will do!
21:06:08 <lupinix> maybe just like openSUSE, not that much sticks as dvds and just hand them out in some more enhanced conversations instead of just putting them on table like dvds before
21:06:59 <Sanqui> yeah - i'd call that the fallback. just allocate the same amount of $$ that was for dvds and be more conservative about giving them away
21:08:42 <lupinix> !
21:08:45 <nmilosev> lupinix, yes
21:09:06 <lupinix> i just want to ask everyone to encourage other ambassadors to join the meetings :)
21:09:15 <nmilosev> +1
21:10:23 <lupinix> annoying, especially if we cannot vote on tickets then like some weeks ago
21:10:27 <nmilosev> This is our longest meeting as far as I can remember :)
21:10:30 <nmilosev> Yeah
21:11:02 <nmilosev> If that is all I will be ending the meeting in two (2) minutes. Thank you all for coming! See you in two weeks.
21:11:18 <lupinix> thanks for chairing nmilosev
21:11:24 <lupinix> good night everyone!
21:11:30 <sesivany> see ya!
21:12:46 <Sanqui> thanks for the meeting! :)
21:13:03 <nmilosev> #endmeeting
