02:31:26 <brainycmurf> #topic F37 release status
02:31:28 <brainycmurf> An OpenSSL critical vulnerability has pushed the release back. The next go/no-go meeting will be held 1700 UTC on Thursday 10 November. The current target release date is 15 November.
02:31:31 <brainycmurf> GNOME 43.1 was included in the latest RC. We should make sure to be on top of any regressions from that.
02:31:34 <brainycmurf> updates-testing has been disabled so people need to re-enable it to test the upcoming changes.
02:31:36 <brainycmurf> #topic Consider limiting journal size
02:31:38 <brainycmurf> #link https://pagure.io/fedora-workstation/issue/213
02:31:42 <brainycmurf> Are there any takeaways from the mailing list thread that Chris started? Does this still need testing, or can we decide on a new proposal?
02:31:45 <brainycmurf> Chris volunteers to put together a change proposal to change the journald retention.
02:31:47 <brainycmurf> Chris suggests that whatever retention schedule we pick, we should make sure it's also acceptable upstream. Neal questions if it's necessary; it's just config after all. Should it be time based or size based? Upstream currently has size based. Chris thinks maybe 3-7 months?
02:31:51 <brainycmurf> We'll check back on this in a month and see how it's going.
02:31:53 <brainycmurf> #topic Workstation QA arrangements
02:31:55 <brainycmurf> Allan had a call with Fedora QA on 13th October:
02:31:57 <brainycmurf> * QA plan to prioritise testing the beta, and will aim to cover all the preinstalled apps in the beta testing.
02:32:00 <brainycmurf> * Open questions about the usefulness of the RC test day: https://pagure.io/fedora-workstation/issue/334
02:32:03 <brainycmurf> Kalev and Allan think that having two test weeks so quickly after one another may not be the best plan as people run out of enthusiasm.
02:32:06 <brainycmurf> Allan is planning on working a bit more on the test cases.
02:32:10 <brainycmurf> * Concerns remain about the quality of Maps, Contacts, Calendar, Photos.
02:32:12 <brainycmurf> We have been trying to use the QA process to improve the quality of the apps, but the message from the QA is that it's not the right way to go about this.
02:32:15 <brainycmurf> Allan suggests that we might want to remove a couple of the problematic apps as they don't have a lot of people using them and it's soaking up limited resources.
02:32:18 <brainycmurf> A long discussion ensued if we should pre-install an email client or not.
02:32:20 <brainycmurf> Michael says that we should consider gnome-contacts and geary together. Either pre-install both, or neither. Upstream has had a ticket open for a few years whether to drop Photos.
02:32:23 <brainycmurf> We'd need metrics to know which apps people actually use.
