00:14:54 <brainycmurf> #topic Status of GNOME 42 in F36
00:14:56 <brainycmurf> What is the status of the GNOME 42 packages?
00:14:58 <brainycmurf> We have a freeze exception for 42.rc:
00:15:00 <brainycmurf> #link https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2049147
00:15:02 <brainycmurf> 42.beta is still in the f36-gnome side tag. David has asked for autosigning permissions to move things off the side tag. Failing that, he will do it through bodhi.
00:15:05 <brainycmurf> #topic New Anaconda UI
00:15:07 <brainycmurf> #link https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/anaconda-is-getting-a-new-suit/
00:15:11 <brainycmurf> Anaconda is moving to patternfly and web technologies. Allan had a call with the anaconda team about it yesterday. It is still very early in the process for this.
00:15:14 <brainycmurf> They plan to use a fullscreen web view in kiosk mode.
00:15:16 <brainycmurf> Lots of discusssion about pros and cons of this change.
00:15:18 <brainycmurf> We've always wanted a 'point-and-shoot' installer with a separate partitioning too.
00:15:20 <brainycmurf> Chris points out 3 categories of installs:
00:15:22 <brainycmurf> - Fedora only
00:15:24 <brainycmurf> - Dual boot with Windows (complications with Bitlocker)
00:15:26 <brainycmurf> - MacOS (we can't resize)
00:15:28 <brainycmurf> #info question over future of importance of and ability to support dual boot

00:15:32 <brainycmurf> WG continues to discuss installer design. Some of us are not fond of the live session, others want to keep it. Exiting the live session before running the installer would be fine. Neal and Michael want to run language and keyboard layout selection before starting live session.
00:15:36 <brainycmurf> Anaconda team is displeased that they cannot change desktop settings (particularly keyboard layout) in Wayland like they could in X11.
00:15:41 <brainycmurf> WG discusses GTK-based vs. Patternfly-based UI. Many of us prefer the GTK-based design, but Owen suggests that second-guessing the installer team on this is not practical. Neal points out that keeping the current GTK frontend and maintaining it ourselves is possible, because anaconda is modularized. But do we really want to maintain it ourselves?
00:15:46 <brainycmurf> #info concerns about web based UI, and maintaining GTK frontend as an alternative
00:15:48 <brainycmurf> Michael reminds the WG that he is the only WebKitGTK maintainer in Fedora. Will not be able to fix problems (e.g. unsupported graphics devices, layout or rendering bugs, etc.).
