15:05:28 <bcotton> #topic Topics?
15:05:37 <bcotton> #info Today is an open floor meeting
15:05:47 <bcotton> anyone have topics they want to toss into the pile?
15:06:18 <bexelbie> Do we need to do anything else for #239 at this point?
15:06:32 <bexelbie> I think Tyll and I were at -1 and I think we have both seen new data that helped us
15:06:42 <bexelbie> also #245 seems stalled
15:07:31 <bcotton> bexelbie: okay, we'll cover those two. anythign else from anyone?
15:08:22 <langdon> Fedora wsl?
15:08:43 <langdon> keep meaning to file a ticket but have bee. crazy busy
15:08:56 <bcotton> langdon ack
15:09:39 <bcotton> okay
15:09:47 <bcotton> #topic Badges Hackfest
15:09:52 <bcotton> #link https://pagure.io/Fedora-Council/tickets/issue/239
15:10:04 <bcotton> Last week we agreed to start the timer. The timer has now dinged
15:10:11 <bcotton> looks like it's approved as proposed
15:10:24 <bcotton> does anyone disagree with that interpretation?
15:10:42 <bexelbie> That was my read, but wasn't sure if I missed something
15:10:55 <bcotton> #agreed Badges Hackfest is approved
15:11:04 <bcotton> #action bcotton to update ticket
15:11:13 <bcotton> #topic Objectives Writing Hackfest
15:11:18 <bcotton> #link https://pagure.io/Fedora-Council/tickets/issue/245
15:11:36 <bcotton> are we still pursuing this? (langdon et al)
15:12:10 <langdon> I'm on the fence
15:13:24 <bcotton> if it helps your fencing, my read of the room last week is that people aren't opposed as much as unconvinced
15:14:04 <stickster> Maybe because I'm really squashed for time these days, I was in favor of a half-measure first, i.e. having templates or guidelines to start before we bring a lot of people somewhere
15:14:11 <pbrobinson> I'm unconvinced
15:14:50 <dgilmore> I am also unconvinced
15:15:13 <pbrobinson> yes, and I feel a bunch could be just as easily achieved using a medium such as bluejeans
15:15:24 <stickster> If this were writing in terms of docs for larger commmunity it'd be a shoe-in. Writing for only a very, very small group of interested people seems like less of a good use of $$
15:15:32 <bcotton> i think part of the problem is that there are two separate goals here. 1. is to coordinate the related work of several potential proposals. the second is to come up with a template based on the experience of previous objective proposal writers
15:15:34 <dgilmore> I do think we need more objectives, but I also believe that it is something where will will not have a one size fits all.
15:15:39 <stickster> That being said, I appreciate the idea
15:16:10 <dgilmore> We really should have a few basics as to sections and ino needed to submit a objective proposla
15:16:13 <bcotton> it'd be nice to accomplish both at the same time, but i think they can be achieved separately, and then a bluejeans session makes it more attractive
15:17:58 <bexelbie> I also wonder if we shouldn't prioritize between the two so that we get the one we need first ... first
15:18:01 <bexelbie> as we have limited people power
15:18:36 <bcotton> how about this? i can put together a very rough template for folks to use in the short term (we can improve upon it later) and in parallel the folks who are working on the upcoming proposals can coordinate the shape of those and fill in the template when it's ready
15:20:03 <stickster> That sounds pretty reasonable
15:21:05 <bcotton> langdon: this was your hackfest idea (or at least your ticket). are you good with my suggestion?
15:22:13 * stickster notes that both langdon and he are probably also monitoring the same conference call happening now
15:22:14 <langdon> sure
15:22:18 <stickster> :-D
15:22:23 <bcotton> cool
15:22:33 <bcotton> #action bcotton to draft a rough objective proposal template
15:22:42 <langdon> stickster.. in the room in fact :)
15:23:18 <bcotton> #agreed langdon will withdraw the Objectives Writing Hackfest proposal in favor of virtual coordination between interested parties
15:24:01 <bcotton> langdon: are you available enough if i #topic Fedora WSL?
15:24:21 <langdon> yeah
15:24:31 <bcotton> #topic Fedora WSL
15:24:41 <bcotton> all you, langdon
15:24:45 <langdon> it's pretty short.. someone asked me about the Fedora wsl and what the plan is.. if any..
15:25:03 <bexelbie> There is a third-party WSL release
15:25:08 <langdon> wanted to know if we wanted to pursue this.. and if so.. how
15:25:20 <bexelbie> right now we have no plan to do a WSL release as we currently have some non-technical challenges
15:25:28 <langdon> bexelbie there is? I didn't know that
15:25:39 <bexelbie> Yes
15:25:43 <bcotton> #info a third-party WSL release is available. there are no plans to do a WSL due to some non-technical challenges
15:25:53 <bcotton> #undo

15:26:37 <langdon> ok.. ill try and dig in to that and get some answers to the people who asked
15:27:03 <bcotton> iirc there was some kind of legal snag, is that right, bexelbie?
15:30:20 <bcotton> okay, we'll just assume "yes" :-)
15:30:31 <bcotton> anything else on WSL?
15:31:05 <bexelbie> yes
15:31:06 <bexelbie> sorry
15:31:14 <bexelbie> had to step away for what turned out to not be a second
15:31:50 <bcotton> it happens :-)
15:32:16 <bcotton> sounds like there's nothing more here
15:32:23 <bcotton> #topic Council Policies
15:33:07 <bcotton> #action bcotton to start filing Pague issues on policy areas that need addressing so we can address the policy gaps
15:33:40 <bcotton> not much else to say, i just wanted to put that out there so that y'all can hold me accountable if i forget to do it
15:35:58 <bcotton> #topic Open-er floor
15:36:16 <bcotton> #info Next week's meeting is the FESCo/Mindshare/D&I report
15:36:29 <bcotton> anything else we want to discuss this week?
15:37:03 <bexelbie> I will not be here next week, fyi
15:37:13 <bcotton> i may not be either
15:37:36 <contyk> good
15:37:46 <bcotton> actually, i know i won't i'll be on an airplane, which is probably not the best time to join a jitsi meeting :-D
15:38:02 <contyk> do you think?
15:38:27 <contyk> I bet you wouldn't even notice, compared to how it works normally
15:39:14 <bcotton> contyk++
15:40:30 <bcotton> okay, it sounds like we're done here
15:40:35 <bcotton> very efficient meeting
15:40:49 <stickster> in fairness it was a smaller crowd, that usually helps
15:40:58 <stickster> but it was exceedingly well run of course ;-)
15:41:00 <bcotton> and mattdm wasn't here to cause trouble :-)
15:41:04 <stickster> lol
15:41:04 <bcotton> stickster++ :-)
15:41:23 <bcotton> okay, thanks everyone! return to your lives
