14:08:10 <msekleta> hi everyone
14:08:10 <haraldh> #meetingname Fedora Base Design Working Group
14:08:10 <zodbot> The meeting name has been set to 'fedora_base_design_working_group'
14:08:26 <haraldh> #chair msekleta vpavlin dgilmore jreznik masta
14:08:26 <zodbot> Current chairs: dgilmore haraldh jreznik masta msekleta vpavlin
14:09:52 <haraldh> #topic candidates for new memberships
14:09:59 <haraldh> so, do we have anyone applying for membership?
14:10:27 <haraldh> sgallagh, you maybe? :)
14:11:29 <haraldh> I emailed several people appearing on https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora.next/WG_Nominations
14:11:34 <haraldh> but got no answer :-/
14:12:26 <sgallagh> haraldh: I can't commit to the time right now. I have a lot on my plate.
14:12:33 <lnykryn> Maybe I would be interested, but only if you could change the meeting time :)
14:12:43 <sgallagh> I'll be around for general coordination, but not every meeting and discussion.
14:12:51 <dgilmore> sgallagh: sleep is overrated
14:13:15 <haraldh> heh :) yeah, meeting time will be reevaluated
14:13:31 <jreznik> lnykryn: later on friday? :)
14:13:39 <sgallagh> dgilmore: You say to a person who has been up all night doing release validation :-P
14:14:04 <dgilmore> sgallagh: :) see
14:14:55 <dgilmore> haraldh: there was no nominations at all?
14:15:01 <jreznik> red bull helped me in the morning but I desperately need another one :D
14:15:27 <dgilmore> jreznik: I just got up, only had one espresso, need more
14:19:00 <haraldh> dgilmore, well, Rathann from last week
14:19:16 <dgilmore> I think he would be a good choice
14:19:53 <haraldh> as I have a plane to catch in 15 minutes, I want to keep this meeting short
14:20:14 <haraldh> so, we have no one else applying
14:20:29 <haraldh> and Rathann is not here
14:20:52 <haraldh> so, as it is not critical and pressing we can defer that
14:20:59 <dgilmore> okay
14:21:03 <haraldh> #topic Open Floor
14:21:20 <dgilmore> one quick thing
14:21:35 <dgilmore> I've built docker base images for arm.
14:22:17 <dgilmore> I brought up in the infra meeting yesterday that I think we should look at running our own registry, at least for the arches that upstream doesn't support
14:22:38 <dgilmore> we really need people to help with investigating what it would take to run
14:22:59 <dgilmore> so I just have a call for help from interested parties
14:23:29 <vpavlin> dgilmore:Or maybe we don't have to run a registry..we could just add a repository to Docker Hub - something like fedora-arm/..
14:24:36 <dgilmore> vpavlin: could it be trusted? can we get DockerFiles built?
14:25:29 <vpavlin> We would have to build them ourselves for the arm compatibility and then push them to Docker Hub
14:25:50 <dgilmore> okay.
14:25:59 <vpavlin> (I don't think Docker can build ARM images atm)
14:26:09 <dgilmore> pushing stuff to docker hub is painful
14:26:27 <dgilmore> vpavlin: I doubt it they only support and assume x86_64
14:26:52 <vpavlin> yes
14:27:02 <haraldh> ok, I have to leave... sorry... dgilmore can you close the meeting please?
14:27:23 <dgilmore> haraldh: sure
14:27:30 <dgilmore> vpavlin: just found https://registry.hub.docker.com/u/armv7/armhf-ubuntu/
14:27:59 <dgilmore> https://registry.hub.docker.com/u/armv7/armhf-fedora/
14:28:09 <vpavlin> heh
14:28:33 <dgilmore> we do not call our hardware floating point port armhf
14:28:53 <dgilmore> so I guess it was done by a debian/ubuntu person
14:30:18 <dgilmore> wow
14:30:27 <dgilmore> https://github.com/umiddelb/armhf/wiki/Installing,-running,-using-docker-on-armhf-%28ARMv7%29-devices#installing-docker-on-fedora-21-armhfp
14:30:37 <dgilmore> the instructions there are insane
14:31:03 <dgilmore> vpavlin: so given that someone has done some arm work in the registry maybe we can do it there
14:33:04 <vpavlin> Yeah, I think it would be better to push it there
14:33:20 * masta is here
14:33:21 <dgilmore> vpavlin: I agree
14:33:23 <masta> hello
14:33:32 <dgilmore> vpavlin: it is a bit messy
14:34:00 <vpavlin> looking at the instructions..we should tell them about Koji;)
14:34:36 <dgilmore> vpavlin: and rpm -ivh to install srpms
14:34:51 <dgilmore> and that you could edit the spec in f21 to get docker to build via a rpm
14:35:41 <dgilmore> vpavlin: so I guess we should work out how to get the images in the registry
14:36:09 <vpavlin> dgilmore: I already have a build for f21 http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=9143360
14:36:15 <dgilmore> vpavlin: and work out how to build all the dockerfiles
14:36:22 <dgilmore> vpavlin: :)
14:36:38 <vpavlin> dgilmore: Yes..
14:36:43 <dgilmore> vpavlin: cool. I only bothered to get it in f22
14:37:04 <vpavlin> dgilmore: I've asked lsm5 to build it for me:)ú
14:37:13 <dgilmore> vpavlin: :) cool
14:37:22 <dgilmore> I asked him if i could build it
14:37:40 <masta> those steps are indeed weird
14:38:07 <masta> (from the above wiki)
14:38:10 <masta> sry catching up
14:38:37 <dgilmore> http://paste.fedoraproject.org/194274/14256527/
14:39:08 <dgilmore> that pastebin is a list of images that show up for docker search arm
14:39:25 <vpavlin> dgilmore: So we could either do it by "brute-force" method - simple script that would run docker build recursively or we could probably use dock+Openshift to build it - I talked to you about it in Brno
14:40:38 <dgilmore> vpavlin: sure. whichever is easiest, and most likely to be supportable
14:40:39 <vpavlin> dgilmore: Thinking about it..we can probably build arm images in docker hub..
14:41:09 <vpavlin> Or maybe not..
14:41:14 <vpavlin> I am confused..need to try it
14:41:24 <masta> hehe..
14:41:25 <vpavlin> Well..we cannot..sorry..my bad
14:41:40 <dgilmore> https://registry.hub.docker.com/u/mazzolino/qemu-arm-static/dockerfile/
14:42:03 <dgilmore> vpavlin: maybe if we made a image with qemu we could
14:42:17 <dgilmore> but that would probably be super slow. and confuse things
14:42:25 <vpavlin> yes
14:42:31 <masta> is the dockerhub a buildsystem, or just a repo? I presume the later?
14:42:43 <vpavlin> masta: both
14:42:57 <masta> ok
14:43:06 <vpavlin> masta: They have a buildsystem (http://docs.docker.com/docker-hub/builds/)
14:43:09 <dgilmore> vpavlin: http://gopher-gala.challengepost.com/submissions/32198-cobs-the-container-build-service
14:46:46 <vpavlin> dgilmore: interesting
14:46:52 <dgilmore> vpavlin: do you think we can solve anything here today?
14:47:01 <vpavlin> dgilmore: Not really
14:47:19 <dgilmore> cool. lets wrap up and take it to email, or IRC next week
14:47:21 <vpavlin> dgilmore:I think we just need to get AIs assigned:)
14:47:35 <vpavlin> dgilmore: Is it possible to get an arm machine for PoC?
14:47:44 * dgilmore needs to pay attention to the go no go meeting
14:47:58 <dgilmore> vpavlin: there is some in beaker
14:48:20 <vpavlin> ok, I'll try to get a machine in beaker next week
14:48:27 <dgilmore> vpavlin: or I can give you access to one here
14:48:40 <vpavlin> Whatever works for you
14:48:42 <dgilmore> beaker is probbaly easiest as there is some in Brno
14:50:13 <masta> ok, shall we wrap?
14:50:31 <vpavlin> sure..dgilmore - I'll try to get a machine there and get back to you next week
14:50:54 <masta> #endmeeting
