19:30:57 <NeatBasis> Don't know if the bot can keep up with my nick
19:31:00 <sesivany> anyone else up for a meeting? c'mon, you can get a badge for attending a meeting ;-)
19:31:18 <jamielinux> Good evening everyone. Hope flock was good. I'll have to make sure i can be there next year
19:31:43 <sesivany> jamielinux: it will definitely be closer next year.
19:31:54 <NeatBasis> The number of possible badges seems to go up steadily :)
19:32:17 <jamielinux> sesivany: Indeed. It was more the time it fell than the location that stopped me this year though. I would have done the miles if I could have!
19:32:22 <cmpahar> .fas cmpahar
19:32:23 <zodbot> cmpahar: cmpahar 'Christos Bacharakis' <cmpahar@gmail.com>
19:33:59 <sesivany> ok, let's wait a bit longer... I don't expect many people to participate today.
19:34:18 <sesivany> a lot of us are still on our way to home from Flock
19:34:36 <sesivany> and some just arrived fighting jet lag like me.
19:35:44 <sesivany> ok, let's start...
19:35:50 <sesivany> #topic Announcements
19:35:59 <sesivany> any announcements?
19:36:41 <sesivany> I've got a few...
19:37:16 <sesivany> #link http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_p--G_ebsrR4kA4zpqLSTw?feature=watch - recordings of talks from Flock 2013 including the ones about ambassadors
19:37:57 <sesivany> We discussed some hot topics at Flock.
19:38:08 * jamielinux has so many talks bookmarked to watch
19:38:25 <sesivany> e.g. removing inactive ambassadors from the group of ambassadors or marking them as inactive.
19:39:13 <sesivany> I've asked Patrick of infra team to run a few queries to find out what criteria would work the best for it.
19:40:21 <sesivany> we've come up with an idea to remove ambassadors who haven't logged in to FAS (wiki, trac,...) for the last 12, 18, or 24 months. It indicates they are completely inactive in Fedora Project.
19:41:10 <sesivany> in some countries, it's a serious problem. Brazil has around 40 ambassadors and ~30 of them are inactive.
19:41:23 <jamielinux> Perhaps a poke via email first before removal?
19:41:48 <sesivany> jamielinux: yes, that should be the last step.
19:42:53 <sesivany> #info At Flock, we discussed what to do with inactive ambassadors. We've come up with several idea how to indicate inactive ambassadors and what to do with them. Will be discussed in FAmSCo more.
19:44:25 <sesivany> #info There will be a call for Flock 2014 bids very soon. Flock 2014 will be in EMEA. If you know a suitable location, consider proposing it.
19:45:03 <sesivany> any other announcements?
19:45:48 <dglaros> .fas dimitrisglaros
19:45:48 <zodbot> dglaros: dimitrisglaros 'Dimitris Glaros' <dimitrisglaros@gmail.com>
19:46:16 <sesivany> #topic Requests
19:46:26 <NeatBasis> maybe send them another mail after some time of inactivity so as to remind them to do something? like in 6 months
19:47:32 <NeatBasis> then after a longer period of time they would get their "last warning" and be removed from active ambassadors
19:47:42 <sesivany> NeatBasis: yes, that's one of possible options. But first we need to find a criteria based on which we start some action.
19:48:33 <sesivany> cmpahar: do you have an idea if the package to Greece has been delivered?
19:48:46 <sesivany> cmpahar: it should already.
19:48:59 <cmpahar> sesivany, yes Nikos received and updated the ticket earlier today :)
19:49:10 <sesivany> cmpahar: great.
19:50:27 <sesivany> cmpahar: please tell him to close the ticket with ambassador's shirt, too, if it arrived with the package well.
19:50:49 <sesivany> cmpahar: and if you and someone else from Greece need a new shirt, just file a ticket.
19:50:53 <cmpahar> sesivany, ok i will tell it to giannisk
19:51:06 <cmpahar> sesivany, alright! thanks :)
19:51:27 <sesivany> there is only one more ticket since the last meeting.
19:51:37 <sesivany> #link https://fedorahosted.org/emea-swag-tracking/ticket/277 - Software Freedom Kosova 2013
19:52:23 <sesivany> Ardian nicely described the event and why it should get support from us, but unfortunately he didn't write a word about how we should support him, what he needs.
19:52:42 <sesivany> eh, he already updated it...
19:52:47 <sesivany> ok then
19:53:18 <sesivany> I'll send it tomorrow then.
19:53:59 <sesivany> just a little note: I'll be on a vacation from Aug 16th to Sept 1st.
19:54:35 <sesivany> I won't be online and won't be able to distribute swag for this period of time.
19:55:48 <sesivany> #info sesivany will be on a vacation from Aug 16th to Sept 1st and won't be able to distribute swag for this period of time. In emergency situations, assign tickets to jreznik.
19:57:41 <sesivany> #topic Ambassador's Schedule
19:57:49 <sesivany> #link http://fedorapeople.org/groups/schedule/f-20/f-20-ambassadors-tasks.html
19:58:07 <sesivany> looking at the schedule, I'm not 100% sure if it's correct.
19:58:42 <sesivany> anyway, it's a boring time for ambassadors and I'll ask jreznik about that later.
19:59:07 * jreznik can help, for sure
20:00:50 <sesivany> jreznik: I'm not sure if the ambassador's schedule for F20 is correct. According to it, the beta should be released on Nov 11th. But AFAIK F20 final is scheduled for Nov 12th.
20:02:43 <sesivany> #topic Events
20:03:07 <jreznik> sesivany: final is scheduled for Nov 26
20:03:35 <sesivany> jreznik: ah, so it was pushed a bit after all?
20:04:25 <jreznik> sesivany: it was, schedule should be updated everywhere
20:04:32 <jreznik> if not, let me know
20:04:48 <sesivany> jreznik: I didn't know that.
20:05:18 <sesivany> #info F20 Final is scheduled for Nov 26th.
20:05:27 <sesivany> jreznik: thanks for the info.
20:05:28 <jreznik> sesivany: it was done in hurry to make sure it happens before previously planned branch date - should be more vocal about that
20:06:26 <sesivany> jreznik: no problem, for ambassadors, it's not such a big deal since our release related work starts quite late in the cycle.
20:06:49 <sesivany> jamielinux: do you already know if you can attend LinuxCon in Edinburgh?
20:08:53 <sesivany> Affix: I won't be able to get to LinuxCon planning before the beginning of Sept. Have been busy with GUADEC and Flock and going to be on a vacation for the next two weeks.
20:09:59 <jamielinux> sesivany: No not yet sorry.
20:10:01 * cmpahar got go. see you all bb
20:10:12 <sesivany> cmpahar: see ya
20:10:49 <jamielinux> sesivany: I'll let you know as soon as I can, which will probably be later this month.
20:11:01 <sesivany> jamielinux: will you know it by mid Sept? That's when it's really the last time to make a decision who's going.
20:11:10 <jamielinux> sesivany: Or probably after you get back from holiday :)
20:11:19 <jamielinux> sesivany: Yeah I will definitely be able to let you know by then
20:11:32 <sesivany> jamielinux: fine, that's ok.
20:11:45 <jamielinux> sesivany: Things are out of my hands at the moment, so can't make any definite plans for now.
20:12:36 <sesivany> jamielinux: I understand. You're right at the beginning of your careers and it's not easy.
20:13:26 <sesivany> the next big event is Froscon which is right around the corner.
20:14:09 <sesivany> all guys (mhroncok, cwickert, gnokii,...) are traveling back from Flock.
20:14:28 <sesivany> maybe heffer could give us some update if he's present.
20:17:16 <sesivany> btw Software Freedom Day is getting nearer.
20:17:46 <sesivany> it's a nice occasion to organize a FLOSS-oriented event and promote Fedora.
20:17:51 <sesivany> it's on Sept 21st.
20:18:08 <robyduck> .fas robyduck
20:18:09 <zodbot> robyduck: robyduck 'Robert Mayr' <robyduck@gmail.com>
20:18:21 <robyduck> sorry for being so late this evening
20:18:34 <sesivany> #info Software Freedom Day is on Sept 21st, a good occasion to organize a FLOSS-oriented event and promote Fedora ;)
20:18:57 <sesivany> robyduck: no problem, everyone is busy traveling from Flock.
20:19:35 <sesivany> jreznik: what about organizing another SFD in Brno? Could you ask "Linux in Brno" guys?
20:19:38 <robyduck> ;)
20:21:27 * sesivany is still without his bag... as usual.
20:22:49 <robyduck> sorry for that, but your are still *with* jet lag I guess :)
20:22:57 <sesivany> #topic Openfloor
20:23:19 <sesivany> robyduck: I've opened a bottle of wine which helps me fight the jet lag :)
20:23:33 <robyduck> great idea
20:24:07 * robyduck is running to the wine cellar
20:24:52 <sesivany> robyduck, jamielinux: btw what do you think about the ring proposal? It looks like a big thing for Fedora.
20:25:16 * NeatBasis follows suit
20:25:44 <robyduck> sesivany: what do you mean?
20:26:26 <sesivany> robyduck: the "Fedora Core + rings above it" proposal.
20:26:48 <NeatBasis> I don't have jetlag, but I do have some wine now :)
20:27:19 <robyduck> ah, ok
20:27:37 <NeatBasis> Does anyone here know what pidora means exactly in russian
20:27:49 <robyduck> yes, I'd like it
20:27:58 <robyduck> I'm not against this proposal
20:28:25 <NeatBasis> and if it's more offensive to people intolerant of gays or maybe the other way around
20:28:26 <sesivany> NeatBasis: pidor is a really rude term for a homosexual in Russian.
20:29:13 <jamielinux> sesivany: I'm interested to see how it pans out, but for now I'm sitting on the fence.
20:29:27 <NeatBasis> pirate used to be a really rude term to describe a person downloading stuff illegally and before that stealing and murdering on seas
20:29:40 <sesivany> NeatBasis: so something like a "fag" which is not a great name there considering Russia is not very gay-friendly based on the last turn of events.
20:30:38 <NeatBasis> I was actually thinking that especially in light of recent events we should stick with the name Pidora and turn the word in the favor of the gays
20:31:48 <jamielinux> Off to bed now, good night everyone!
20:31:50 <NeatBasis> We should not make it too easy for russia to erase everything related to gay people
20:31:52 <sesivany> jamielinux: yeah, I think some more flexibility would definitely help, for example software collections and COPRs, and having a well-defined core, but the proposal goes really large. It's bold.
20:31:55 <Affix> hey guys
20:32:03 <Affix> sorry i've been a but busy today
20:32:06 <jamielinux> sesivany: Yes, very bold and there's lots of things to figure out.
20:32:37 <jamielinux> sesivany: I'm more interested with the comments about rubygems.org and better relationships with upstreams.
20:33:09 <jamielinux> But anyway, good night all!
20:33:24 <sesivany> jamielinux: yeah, ruby devels in Red Hat complain about Ruby in Fedora all the time, there is definitely room for improvement.
20:33:30 <sesivany> jamielinux: good night!
20:33:49 <NeatBasis> jamielinux: good night
20:33:56 <jamielinux> There certainly is. Rather painful actually sometimes.
20:33:59 <jamielinux> Goodnight :)
20:35:08 <sesivany> Affix: no problem, I just wanted to tell you that I wouldn't have time to look at the LinuxCon planning till the beginning of Sept. I'll be on a vacation for the next two weeks. But when I come back, let's jump on that!
20:35:39 <Affix> thats no problem sesivany I've got 2 clients sites launching and another app over the next 2 weeka
20:36:14 <NeatBasis> I was installing Fedora 19 for my friend and noticed that no sound applet. Xfce UX not nice with the xfce volume applet
20:36:42 <NeatBasis> I'm thinking of repackaging it
20:37:10 <sesivany> NeatBasis: you have to talk to cwickert. Unfortunately, the Xfce SIG is small and doesn't have as much resources as GNOME and KDE's ones.
20:37:26 <sesivany> NeatBasis: AFAIK they would definitely appreciate help.
20:39:50 <sesivany> ok, I'll end the meeting. We've discussed what we needed to discuss. And I'm still fighting the jet lag :)
20:39:57 <sesivany> #endmeeting
