18:15:42 <mitr> #topic Next week's chair
18:15:54 <mitr> Would anyone like to volunteer?
18:16:06 <mmaslano> I won't be here next week
18:16:22 <nirik> I guess I can if no one else can...
18:16:30 <mitr> Thanks
18:16:36 <mitr> #info nirik will chair next week
18:16:41 <mitr> #topic Open Floor
18:16:48 <mitr> Anything for open floor?
18:16:57 <nirik> I was going to look into the tor package issues, but didn't get a chance this week.
18:17:05 <nirik> if someone else wants to, feel free. Or I will try to
18:17:44 * abadger1999 may have something... let's discuss tor first, though.
18:17:45 <t8m> I thought that there is a new (co)maintainer?
18:18:02 <mitr> #topic tor
18:18:10 <mmaslano> I read his commits were reverted
18:18:34 <nirik> yes, but it's unclear to me if there were needed fixes in those...
18:18:45 <mmaslano> but if no-one looked at the package, I don't think we should discuss it
18:19:00 * nirik agrees with mmaslano
18:19:30 <mitr> #info Will revisit tor after someone has looked at situation in more detail.
18:19:46 <mitr> abadger1999?
18:20:21 <abadger1999> fpc voting right now.
18:20:26 <abadger1999> just one minute
18:20:51 <abadger1999> The new java guidelines that were recently approved
18:21:40 <abadger1999> The full extent of how it changes things for consumers of java on fedora wasn't realized by all members of the java sig until this week when conversion to use them was started.
18:22:07 <mitr> #topic New Java packaging guidelines
18:22:08 <abadger1999> There's some dispute between different java sig members about whether they want to keep using the new java guidelines because of those issues.
18:23:28 <pjones> Well, they probably should go back to the FPC and get the guidelines changed if they don't.
18:24:00 <abadger1999> FPC agreed to revisit the guidelines and they (and the java sig members who found problems with the implementation) would like fesco to ask that more java packages not be converted to the new guidelines for a week so FPC and java sig can sort through the issues.
18:24:16 <t8m> that seems reasonable
18:24:18 <pjones> sure.
18:24:22 <mitr> Yeah
18:24:43 <abadger1999> My impression is that some of the java sig would like to just forge ahead and some would like to examine further. This will just give us some breathing room to look at the problems and figure out hte best course before going on.
18:24:55 <pjones> sounds right.
18:25:03 <abadger1999> Cool.
18:25:11 <mmaslano> I believe they find a solution even without us in a week.
18:25:11 <abadger1999> Do we need a formal vote?
18:25:36 <mitr> The feature page's contingency plan suggests that delaying the migration and making it incomplete in F19 wouldn't be a problem.
18:25:51 <sochotni> abadger1999: there was a misunderstanding
18:25:57 <sochotni> it's not related to current guidelines
18:26:15 <sochotni> at least not in the sense that we want current guidelines somehow reverted
18:26:18 <sochotni> none of us do
18:26:36 <abadger1999> sochotni: <nod> But it is the tooling that the guidelines recommend using, correct?
18:26:55 <abadger1999> (xmvn)
18:27:06 <sochotni> abadger1999: we have a draft with new tooling(xmvn) almost ready
18:27:13 <abadger1999> sochotni: wfm.
18:27:22 <pjones> okay, I don't know how much that really matters or not - I think we've all agreed that you can postpone changing things for a week while you figure it out.
18:27:25 <sochotni> while testing the new style ~100 packages were converted
18:27:28 <pjones> We don't need to figure it out for you ;)
18:27:31 <sochotni> it got somewhat out of hand (my bad)
18:27:44 <sochotni> pjones: yup, no argument there
18:27:51 <mitr> abadger1999: would you like to propose a working to vote on?
18:28:01 <abadger1999> Proposal: fesco asks that java packages not be converted to the new guidelines for a week as java sig and FPC resolve the problems with xmvn
18:28:08 <pjones> +1
18:28:11 <mitr> +1
18:28:16 <nirik> sure.
18:28:17 <nirik> +1
18:28:21 <t8m> +1
18:28:23 <mmaslano> +1
18:28:26 <abadger1999> +1
18:29:28 <mitr> #agreed fesco asks that java packages not be converted to the new guidelines for a week as java sig and FPC resolve the problems with xmvn (+6)
18:29:35 <mitr> Anything else for open flooer?
18:30:47 * nirik has nothing.
18:31:15 * abadger1999 nothing here
18:31:17 * mitr will close the meeting in 19:33 if no topic comes up
18:33:24 <mitr> Thanks all!
