14:03:27 * jhradilek is here.
14:04:26 * jsmith is here
14:04:53 * chuckf is kinda here, mostly $DAYJOB though
14:05:34 <bcotton> #topic Follow up on last week's action items
14:05:46 <bcotton> randomuser to file a bug against RN for user-mounted media or just add the content
14:05:58 <bcotton> i don't see randomuser in here, so i guess we'll carry that forward
14:06:06 <bcotton> #action randomuser to file a bug against RN for user-mounted media or just add the content
14:06:12 <bcotton> #topic Release Notes
14:06:20 <bcotton> #link https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Release_Notes_schedule
14:06:54 <jjmcd_> That schedule is out date - I need to fix it
14:07:07 <bcotton> jjmcd_: i assume it doesn't reflect the slippage?
14:07:13 <jjmcd_> correct
14:07:23 <jjmcd_> well, some of the slippage
14:07:52 <bcotton> #action jjmcd_ to update RN schedule
14:07:52 <jjmcd_> Basically, I think we have a couple of tweaks that showed up in the wiki, but mostly we're waiting for translations
14:08:01 <bcotton> excellent
14:08:17 <jjmcd_> Worth noting however that randomuser did an outstanding job on the Tech Notes
14:08:37 <bcotton> #info randomuser did an outstanding job on the Tech Notes
14:08:46 <jjmcd_> He further automated the process so it should be real easy in the future
14:09:20 * jjmcd_ is thinking maybe he can be suckered into taking ownership
14:09:44 <jjmcd_> rats, he's not here
14:09:49 <bcotton> he's not here. it's an excellent time to volunteer him for it :-)
14:10:17 <jjmcd_> always good to spread the wealth
14:11:11 <bcotton> anything else on RN?
14:11:50 <jjmcd_> nope
14:11:56 <bcotton> #topic Guide Status
14:12:04 <bcotton> #link http://rbergero.fedorapeople.org/schedules/f-17/f-17-docs-tree-tasks.html
14:12:51 <bcotton> looks like we should have the POT files refreshed for beta today
14:12:58 <bcotton> i'm guessing most of the guides aren't there yet
14:14:11 <bcotton> silence
14:14:20 <pkovar> basically most of the guides follow their own schedule
14:14:22 <bcotton> i guess that means i'm right, or no one wants to tell me i'm wrong :-)
14:14:29 <pkovar> only partly based on the official one
14:14:38 <pkovar> AFAIK
14:15:05 <bcotton> pkovar: that seems to be my experience, though it would be nice if we were closer to Robyn's magic schedule
14:17:59 <bcotton> anyone else want to say things about guides?
14:18:23 <claneys> I continue User Guide as much as possible
14:18:32 <pkovar> oh, nice
14:18:51 <bcotton> claneys: fyi, i got the printing section updated
14:19:01 <claneys> fyi ?
14:19:07 <bcotton> for your information
14:19:25 <claneys> about guide owners ?
14:19:33 <claneys> I see that, thanks you :)
14:19:34 <pkovar> claneys: please try to git push your updates as much as possible, thanks
14:19:42 <bcotton> #topic Open Help Conference
14:19:52 <bcotton> #link http://openhelpconference.com
14:19:59 <claneys> Yes, I do but not so much time these last weeks to spend on it :/
14:20:00 <bcotton> #info Open Help Conference is Aug 11-15 in Cincinnati, OH
14:20:29 <bcotton> anything about the OHC?
14:20:54 <pkovar> claneys: sure, thanks anyway for contributing
14:21:30 <pkovar> bcotton: nothing new this week, i guess
14:21:45 <bcotton> pkovar: awesome
14:21:47 <bcotton> #topic Outstanding BZ Tickets
14:21:56 <bcotton> #link http://tinyurl.com/lbrq84
14:23:01 <bcotton> #topic Open floor discussion
14:23:11 <bcotton> anyone have fun things to talk about this week?
14:23:24 <cmurf> GRUB2?
14:23:34 <cmurf> reassignment on BZ 752059
14:23:53 <bcotton> cmurf: hello! i was going to reply to your mail, but people keep trying to talk to me
14:24:16 <cmurf> hi
14:24:27 <bcotton> cmurf: if you're willing to write up the changes, we'd happily accept it :-)
14:24:47 <pkovar> 752059 seems to be assigned to jhradilek
14:25:46 <bcotton> cmurf: if you want to be a regular contributor, please see http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join_the_Docs_Project otherwise, plain text or a diff in the bug would we awesome
14:25:55 <jhradilek> Is that the one about GRUB2 section in the Kernel chapter?
14:26:16 <pkovar> Bug 752059 - MajorMod: Manually Upgrading the Kernel: Update for GRUB 2
14:26:54 <cmurf> list=done, FAS/CLA=done, meeting=here. But not sure how to submit anything.
14:27:16 <cmurf> And yeah it's the one about GRUB2 and manually updating grub.cfg
14:27:40 <bcotton> cmurf: we can talk about that in #fedora-docs after the meeting
14:27:44 <cmurf> basically this is done with grub2-mkconfig now and upstream pretty much says people shouldn't be making direct edits of grub.cfg
14:28:50 <pkovar> bcotton: are you in the docs-publishers group yet?
14:28:58 <bcotton> pkovar: yes i am
14:29:05 <pkovar> cool
14:29:27 <pkovar> bcotton: do you plan to release the RPM Guide?
14:29:32 <jhradilek> cmurf: Yeah, I intend to rewrite it, although I think it is not a bad idea to keep a sample grub.conf there. People need to know how to verify that it contains everything it should.
14:30:02 <cmurf> The syntax has changed so I'd suggest a sample grub.cfg instead of .conf
14:30:17 <jhradilek> Of course.
14:30:46 <cmurf> But also, grub2-mkconfig spits out what it found to stdout so that's another way to confirm/deny it did the right thing.
14:31:57 <cmurf> To some degree it requires faith because the average grub.cfg is maybe 10x longer than grub.conf
14:32:32 <shaunm> bcotton: sorry, I was afk when you brought up the open help conference
14:33:44 <bcotton> shaunm: did you have anything to bring up for it?
14:34:12 <shaunm> I don't have much to add, except that I think co-located doc sprints are awesome, and I'd really love to see the fedora team
14:34:17 <shaunm> I am, of course, biased :)
14:34:39 <shaunm> if you guys need anything, please just let me know
14:35:01 * pkovar can't but agree :-)
14:35:12 <shaunm> also, somebody please present publican, at least in the tools showcase. people need to see it
14:35:52 <bcotton> #info shaunm would like to see someone present Publican at the OHC
14:35:52 <jjmcd_> Is jsmith going?
14:36:54 <jjmcd_> He has experience presenting Publican. I guessing Jaromir isn't going
14:37:08 <shaunm> yeah, his presentation at Brno was really good
14:37:54 <jjmcd_> shaunm, you're gonna make me go, aren't you
14:38:05 <shaunm> jjmcd_: if I can :)
14:38:56 <shaunm> I know fnadge is tentatively planning to come
14:39:20 <jjmcd_> It's August, right? What date?
14:39:33 <shaunm> main conference 11-12, sprints 13-15
14:39:47 <shaunm> and a reception on the 10th
14:40:24 <jjmcd_> Wow, we should be writing the F18 Alpha announcement and doing the beats right around then. Sounds like an opportunity for a Docs FAD
14:41:21 <jjmcd_> At least I can drive there. Maybe I can get rbergeron to pay for my hotel if I'm presenting, esp. if we have a FAD
14:41:44 <jjmcd_> Hi Maria - congrats on your opening talk
14:42:02 <jjmcd_> bcotton, are you planning to go?
14:42:28 <bcotton> jjmcd_: tbd. it's fairly nearby, so i'd like to. need to sort my end-of-the-summer schedule still
14:42:53 <jjmcd_> Yeah, schedules are getting bad. I'm already triple-booked for some May dates
14:43:20 <shaunm> it is insanely hard to find a good time for a conference
14:43:20 <jsmith> jjmcd_: I wasn't planning on going, but I might be able to squeeze it in
14:43:47 <shaunm> between july 4, guadec, and oscon, july was impossible
14:43:48 <jsmith> jjmcd_: I'd probably need to find funding to go -- I'm not sure my new job will cover my expenses
14:43:49 <jjmcd_> shaunm, yeah, no doubt. August is vacation time, but for me, at least, it's better than spring
14:44:47 * jjmcd_ already has too much travel this year.
14:45:02 <shaunm> does RH ever sponsor fedora contributors for events?
14:45:17 <jjmcd_> shaunm, frequently
14:46:43 <pkovar> on another conf, anybody going to FUDCON Malaysia? or planning to play with the topic index tool instance jwulf talked about?
14:47:13 <jjmcd_> pkovar, that looks like a really cool thing, but it is Dayton weekend
14:48:38 <jsmith> pkovar: I'm planning on playing with the tool remotely -- don't have time or money to go to Malaysia
14:49:23 <pkovar> yeah, I'm not going to FUDCON Malaysia either
14:49:54 <pkovar> but it looks like you should be able to give it a try remotely, yes
14:51:11 <bcotton> okay, we're nearing the end of the hour. anything else for this week's meeting?
14:53:05 <bcotton> okay, thanks everyone for coming!
