21:01:01 <kanarip> #startmeeting Spins SIG
21:01:08 <kanarip> who's here?
21:01:10 <nirik> hello.
21:01:21 <brunowolff> Bruno's here
21:01:28 <kanarip> hello nirik, brunowolff
21:02:36 <brunowolff> Is there really a 'halp' command or is that a typo that should get fixed somewhere?
21:02:46 <brunowolff> #halp
21:02:47 <kanarip> i only have one real topic today;
21:02:49 <kanarip> https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=516338
21:02:50 <buggbot> Bug 516338: medium, low, ---, clumens, CLOSED RAWHIDE, "A partition with the mountpoint %s has already been defined"
21:03:05 <nirik> brunowolff: there is. it notes in the summary that you want help on some task/item.
21:03:06 <kanarip> it seems the bug is resolved, but not released to rawhide yet
21:03:24 * nirik has a few fun things too.
21:03:31 <nirik> yeah, that fix works for me....
21:03:33 <brunowolff> The alpha freeze should be almost over.
21:04:05 <kanarip> nirik, you applied it on spins1 too? these daily respins i do are run in mock so no hotfixing there
21:04:26 <nirik> kanarip: yes, I did. it works there... but there is another issue. ;)
21:04:41 <kanarip> brunowolff, well, this should be in the alpha or there's no alpha release for three of our spins
21:04:51 <kanarip> nirik, do tell
21:05:05 <nirik> ok, so I filed bug 517222 which was fixed.
21:05:06 <buggbot> Bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=517222 medium, low, ---, katzj, CLOSED RAWHIDE, livecd-creator leaves tmp files behind
21:05:16 <nirik> but it shows that there is a e2resize issue.
21:05:29 <nirik> the issue is caused on spin1 by it using the f11 kernel instead of rawhide's kernel.
21:06:00 <nirik> it's using f11 kernel because rawhide kernel currently won't boot as a xen guest. ;) see bug 508120
21:06:01 <buggbot> Bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=508120 high, high, ---, kernel-maint, NEW, 2.6.31-rc1 xen domU crashes early during boot
21:06:11 <nirik> so, hopefully that will all get fixed. ;)
21:06:16 <maxamillion> thanks once again for nirik reminding me of the meeting ....
21:06:27 * maxamillion adds it to his google calendar *right* now
21:06:33 <nirik> currently all spins are composing (with the e2resize issue, but I think they work ok).
21:07:12 <kanarip> nirik, that's where using mock to compose really kicks in i suppose
21:07:30 <nirik> yeah. I could perhaps do that in the script too I guess.
21:08:02 <nirik> you can find the isos, the logs and size reports at http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/nightly-composes/
21:08:12 <kanarip> you have my script as a reference for that if you need it
21:08:17 <nirik> any ideas for more info to add or better ways to do things let me know.
21:08:56 <kanarip> yeeey all the .log files are .bin files
21:09:19 <nirik> oh yeah, was going to ask about fixing that... needs a httpd tweak I think.
21:10:27 <kanarip> so, on spin1, can sysadmin-spin now trigger a build from the latest in git too?
21:11:22 <nirik> yeah, currently there is a script in ~kevin/nightly-composes. It will check to see if rawhide is newer than the last time it ran... if so it pulls git head and does a full compose of all isos.
21:11:45 <nirik> I need to also get it setup to run from cron and do the sync. Currently I have been manually running it and rsyncing when it's done.
21:12:50 <kanarip> that shouldn't be too hard
21:13:51 <kanarip> for the pykickstart thing that needs to get into alpha, the -026 version of livecd-tools, and the e2resize issue, what's the follow-up?
21:13:56 <kanarip> or is there anything else?
21:14:18 <nirik> the e2resize is fixed in rawhide, so I just need to get a xen kernel that will boot on spin1, or something.
21:14:28 <nirik> oh, one more bug:
21:14:44 <brunowolff> Sometimes Jeremy just does updates on the machine doing the build, so it may be that those don't need to actually
21:14:57 <kanarip> is there anything we need to follow up on?
21:14:59 <nirik> bug 517885
21:15:00 <buggbot> Bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=517885 medium, low, ---, kzak, CLOSED DUPLICATE, mount not auto-loading ext2 module
21:15:03 <brunowolff> get into the the alpha, as long as Jeremy is aware of the issues.
21:15:55 <nirik> so this means that ext* usb keys can't currently boot live installs on them...
21:16:06 <nirik> just something to note. Hopefully fixed soon. Workaround: use vfat.
21:16:26 <kanarip> sure, right, that's what is used most of the time anyway, no?
21:16:41 <nirik> yeah... but if you see someone try with ext* and it fails, thats why
21:18:27 <nirik> anyhow, thats all the bugs I have around spins. ;)
21:19:24 <kanarip> ok, i guess i'm following up on the pykickstart issue by saying it needs to be tagged for the alpha
21:19:37 <kanarip> i was going to branch for alpha tonight as well
21:19:56 <brunowolff> Who is going to make the actual request for that to happen?
21:20:45 <kanarip> i guess i'm reopening the bug to request the maintainer does it
21:22:05 <brunowolff> Will that happen fast enough?
21:22:09 <kanarip> and so i did
21:22:23 <kanarip> i can't push anything i'm not the maintainer of can i?
21:22:41 <kanarip> and if i can, as a provenpackager and all, should i?
21:23:03 <brunowolff> If the update is in koji you could make a track request to break the freeze, but I suspect the infra guys normally
21:23:23 <brunowolff> expect the package maintainer to make that request not third parties.
21:24:13 <kanarip> brunowolff, well, it's the maintainer's responsibility to track whether anything else breaks if he pushes the update or fixes the current version with a patch
21:24:52 <brunowolff> Maybe just let Jeremy know so that he can apply updates to the machine doing the spins?
21:25:10 <kanarip> hotfixing... is not a good thing
21:25:21 <brunowolff> That is probably good enough if the maintainers don't respond fast enough.
21:26:58 <kanarip> if they don't respond they break the alpha
21:29:16 <brunowolff> I am not thinking they will intentionally delay, but rather that time is short enough they may not notice in time.
21:31:44 <brunowolff> On a different note I just noticed this: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Test_Days/Live_Image
21:31:47 <kanarip> that's true, they'll probably not intentionally delay, and if they don't feel like doing the work they can tell us we can do it
21:31:52 <brunowolff> while catching up on email.
21:32:42 <kanarip> brunowolff, what's up with that?
21:33:05 <brunowolff> That is something that could probably be an official spin at some point. (Available as a kickstart file.)
21:33:17 <brunowolff> It would probably make using it simpler.
21:33:36 <maxamillion> Agreed, I think having a test-centric spin for the QA group wouldn't be a bad idea
21:33:50 <kanarip> brunowolff, this was one specific test day though
21:34:11 <maxamillion> maybe put it in the custom directory
21:34:28 <brunowolff> But a lot of it is generic and would provide a simpler starting point if there was a base test day ks file.
21:34:47 <maxamillion> kanarip: maybe talk to the QA team and see if this is something that might be persistant for future test days?
21:35:04 <kanarip> brunowolff, just the links on the desktop? sure
21:37:26 <kanarip> maxamillion, i don't think there's anything persistent other then maybe some test links on the desktop...
21:37:39 <maxamillion> kanarip: gotchya
21:37:43 <kanarip> nothing persistent other then what's in the repo now anyway
21:40:36 <kanarip> brunowolff, wanna send a -qatestday.ks into the custom/ dir of the repository?
21:41:26 <brunowolff> Yes, I'll put their ks file there and talk to them about it.
21:41:54 <brunowolff> #action brunowolff will create custom/qatestday.ks
21:43:24 <kanarip> ok, so starting right this moment fixes for the Alpha need to go to master and then be requested for porting to F11-Alpha if that's OK with everyone
21:44:39 <brunowolff> +1
21:44:43 * nirik nods. yep.
21:45:36 <kanarip> done
21:47:32 <kanarip> #agreed branch for F-12-Alpha
21:47:38 <kanarip> anything else?
21:48:14 * nirik doesn't have anything further off hand.
21:48:23 <brunowolff> Nothing else here.
21:48:30 <kanarip> maxamillion, ?
21:48:46 <maxamillion> sorry, nothing here
21:48:51 * kanarip proposes to close the meeting in 5
21:48:52 <maxamillion> got distracted by work
21:49:49 <kanarip> 4
21:50:00 <kanarip> 3, 2, 1... ;-)
21:50:04 <kanarip> #endmeeting
